Have you tried calibrating all channels with an spl meter? The beauty of it being your theater is you can then up the level a little to where it suits you....

I personally have mine a couple of db lower than the mains.
In terms of audio, i truly feel sorry for the visually impaired. How can they know what they like if they cant read google?

Back when I had a center I had it set a little higher. If the dialogue is muffled then bump it up.

Thanks for the responses I have my center +2 higher than the mains. I should get a better center I use the CS1 being powered by a rotel bridged 200 watts. my mains are RT8OOi's powered by rotel 180 watts. Sub is DSWpro 500. Rears are R50's powered by a rotel 150 watts. I find I need to turn up the center higher to hear the dialog, im sure a better center would help.:)

At one time I was using a CS2 with Rti10s in front and R50s in back. The level set by my Onkyo 875 Audessey (spelling?) Auto Eq was too low for me. At first I thought the center was just too weak to keep up with the 10s. To some extent that was true. However, once I increased the center level it was not too bad. Just because you have to turn your center up, it does not mean that you need a new center. Of course, I didn't *need* most of the gear I've bought over the last year. So if you *want* a new center it sounds like you have a legitimate reason :o)

NewHT has it correct. Bump up the center if the fronts are overwhelming it. The center is a bridge between the L/R fronts. It should be largely transparent, with all three speakers working together to bring the sound focus to the screen. That most often happens during dialog.
