So, the wife went and rented this for the kid tonite. When she first showed it to me I was like "I don't want to watch this crap"...

Then the movie started, and I damn near shat my pants! Plenty of comedy in the first hour (stopped around then for the kid to go to sleep).

Biggest surprise is the depth of bass used. I had my DSW PRO 600 turned up to +5 on my reciever, cause I don't usually get much bass out of kids movies. Then the movie got to a part where the dad is calling his daughter, and my neighbors windows started shaking.

Needless to say, I was totally surprised by how NOT-**** this movie has been, and recommend it to all who have kids!

Bolt is pretty much Pixar quality and they make good movies. Nevermind that it's animation, we're talking good scripts, eye candy and reference sound. I rented Bolt, then went out an bought the BD...it's just great entertainment. We don't have any kids left in this house, but we love's us some great cartoons.

For an example of an animated move that's unwatchable, check out Tales of Desperaux...or don't.

i can usually tell on animated movies which ones are going to be good and which ones are going be turds. and as soon as I saw the previews for The Tales of Desperaux.. i knew it was gonna be bad. we really don't need anymore animated rat/mouse movies.. it's been done already... and none of them will ever be able to match Ratatouille

Just when I thought I was burned out on cartoons, I watched this tonight, very well done. By far better then anything Pixar's put out over the last several years.
    If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

I agree. The last Pixar release I really liked (besides UP) was The Incredibles.

    Same here.

I have yet to see UP, but my daughter is dying to go, so maybe next week, but after Wall-E, Cars and such I'm not expecting much.
