Pros, cons. Housing prices? Night life? Hot spots?

Does anyone live there are no anyone that lives there?

I'm probably going to visit next week or the week after. It's Florida, can't be that bad, right? Or am I wrong?

Dude wrong. Sucks real bad there unless you can run in buy a house, and not have to work. Please go up a little to Jupiter. Seriously. Been there done that. Great to visit, but live I would rather slam my balls in a car door over and over again.
West coast is a whole different ball game. Also check out the St Augustine area.
Shoot me a PM anytime. I hope things are going well.
    Take care.

    Edit: I hope I wasn't too blunt:eek:
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. Beautiful weather, women, homes, and cars. In general traffic sucks bad, the women are as fake as their titties, homes are still over priced, but the cars are fun to look at:) I have been all over the state of FLA since 82 except the pan handle. So have my friends and family. If I were to move to FLA it certainly would be either west coast, or St Augustine. The later is because I have friends there, and if you don't need to work local you can get a good home fairly cheap. There are tons of empty projects where tons of people were going to move in;)

Edit: I forgot about Jupiter if you want the gulf weather without the fuss.

It's HOT, it rains everyday at 4 PM, it's HOT, crack and coke on just about every street corner, it's HOT, the ocean feels like bath water and there are no waves, it's HOT, they have Palmetto bugs, which is a fancy name for giant cockroaches, it's HOT, the traffic is terrible, it's HOT, there's barricuda's in the ocean, it's HOT and housing isn't cheap. Did I mention that it's HOT!?!

Palm Beach is more than a few rungs up the ladder, but it takes big money to live there.

Orlando is lot like this also, but there's nice area's to live around here. Live 6 miles or so from Disney so what's not to like, if you can live with "Where you from" for a year or so. After that you must have a local look to you as they don't ask any more. Like the median age around here being 38 ies. My mother inlaw lives in Ocala area nice if you're 60 or so.

Jason, if you're interested in any area I say travel a little and rent awhile, you find what you're looking for. ;)

Scientists have done lineage tracing using DNA and have establishing a direct line between Palmetto bugs and the Krakken.

Damn, how could anyone forget about those things?

Way back when, I'm down in WPB standing in some guy's dimly lit kitchen who I don't know, friend of a friend deal, smoking a doobie (haven't touched that crap in many, many years) when out of the corner of my eye I see this large thing crawling across the kitchen counter. I jump back, way back saying WTF is that thing!?! The guy says, oh that's just a Palmetto bug and proceeds to squash it with his hand. Guts are everywhere, the counter, the wall and his hand, which he then uses to take the joint out of his mouth and pass to me! Eff that, all I felt like doing at that point was puking. I'll never forget about Palmetto bugs.....ever!

Palmetto bugs are the worst. I lived in west palm for 5 years and my parents have a condo there and spend the winters there. I would never move down there again. The west coast is much nicer if you want to live in FL.

    Humidity west vs. S FLA.
West coast can have some stale dead air in the summer. S FLA usually has a decent breeze at all times. Anything off the coast you will be gasping for air in the hotter months. ~J~ do you have a job where you can live anywhere? FT Lauderdale is an awesome place to live for about a year. Stay on the main streets, don't talk to strangers, lock up everything, go diving off commercial peer(barracuda hit shinny things like chains, and rings;)), and most of all hang out on A1A around Los Olasas Blvd for the beaches, ****(some decent real girls can be found), and clubs.

My cousin lives in Boca Raton, where expensive houses are at. the WPB area is nice and probably reasonable house pricing for coast area. But as for property tax, its expensive and you will have to evacauate (hurricane)probably a few time in your life time if you decide to move there in WPB area.

St augustine is really nice small oldest town. I lived there before and i kicked kids **** playing baseball growing up. :D

Florida is nice place to live in and i can not wait to move tampa area this summer. Whatever you decide, wish you the best luck sir

Great info guys! A company is flying me down for a job interview next week and I'm going to stay a day or two longer to check the area out. I think I'll have to drive up to Jupiter, sounds rockin'.

Yeah, love that the housing market is down right now. If I left MD, I'd rent out my place (right next to a college, no problems there) and try to find a nice little shack while prices are low.

    Thanks guys!!

I live in Boca Raton, there are some reasonable places to live here. Housing is down everywhere. Property taxes are going down to match the market. There is a Homestead Exemption here, allowaing $50k off your homes estimated value and a cap of 3% increase a year. So those who bought a long time ago can pay 1/4 of those who bought recently. Hurrincane insurance can be high. But there is also no state income tax and utilities are not that bad since we need no oil burners. I have relatives paying $500-1000/month in winter times up north just for oil...

    Ups and downs.
