i know this may annoy some of the posters .....but i've searched the polk site....google...and wikipedia to no avail.......what the heck is a 12 volt trigger and what is its purpose....thanks for your patience

    A 12V trigger allows you to turn on/off other equipment when you power up the receiver. This is useful for things such as a power amp, etc. I just noticed the thread above...it will expand on this a bit more.
