I was planning on taking my daughter to N. Myrtle Beach for a few days before she starts a new job the first of next month (planned on leaving tonight after work). She was going to do the beach stuff and I would get in some golf. Seems like there is a small problem just a short distance away from where we were going to stay.

Looks like we'll be going to the mountains instead for some hiking and maybe horseback riding....no golf though....:(

You could always check out Nags Head in the Outer Banks. Golf, hiking, and horseback riding are all over the place there as well. Very relaxed atmosphere plus it's off season so everything is super cheap. If you stay in the Nags Head/Kitty Hawk area it is alot cheaper than staying up near Duck or Corolla. Either way, have fun on your trip.:D

I've been to the Outer banks a time or two and like it. We have friends that own a condo at Myrtle beach and we were going to use it (on short notice).

Don't worry. YOU are not invited.

Nevertheless, visitors were teeing off at nearby golf courses and managers at the hotels that line the beach a few miles south of the blaze said they couldn't even smell smoke.

Doesn't sound like it's affecting the main areas.

Probably not since the ocean breezes are blowing in to land and should keep the beach areas smoke free. The problem is that this particular area is very close to my friends condo. There will be other opportunites down the road.

Sounds good! I wish we were closer to this type of stuff. I can't wait till my daughter and soon to be son are born so we can go and do this.
