If you do not have separates. I'm sitting here on the couch listening to tunes on the 'puter over the Denon through the SDAs, but it just doesn't have the emotion separates offer, the bass is a little sloppy, and can not handle high volumes. midrange is laid back with a few holes. lower treble is veiled, and does not float on the air, separation is ok center image is in the paper thin sweet spot and hard to find, little easer to find with cds, even easer to find with some thing on the platter. sacd is between the latter two. only thing good I've heard out of this digital box is Yes's Owner of a lonely heart. I've gotta find this on vinyl. Man I need an amp, I really miss the driving bass from a separate amp, not to mention what it does with the sdas when watching a movie:D Oh well.

Also wanna get a sub geez, guess it's time to find a real job. Could always make the wife go work on a street corner.........owww, then I'd have to do more house work. No to mention she would complain she's tired when it comes to..uh hum..."Mommy Daddy play time":p

Man if I go back to separates, then I'm gonna want to get all new cable, then a dac, then another amp, with a pre/pro, build a wood shed for the 2 ch stuff, and leave the ht toys in the house, oh yeah not to mention the 8 15"s I'd need for the IB set up. Then I'm gonna have to buy a 40' wide screen, and ditch the 36" computer monitor serving as the tv.

ok this is the end of a totally useless post, and if you take any thing from this just keep in mind I really miss having real audio toys.

Later,
dude

Did you loose your seperates somehow? SDA's, one decent amp and feeding it with almost anything gets you most of the way. :)

Sorry but I have never heard an AVR that I liked. I am sure there would be one out there that would power your SDA's but the $$$ would be way too much and you would be wasting your money on stuff you don't need. IMO AVR's don't offer enough power.

Take a walk, get some fresh air...save a few pennies and get a power amp for your speakers...you know that will 'make' you happier, because you said it 'yourself'..

Excellent, so as you see there is a great bit for you to do, now get cracking!!!!

I will remind you of the Law of Limited Necessity. Quit wasting money buying those things you feel necessary, you only use them up and have to buy more, by eliminating the necessities you are able to not only help the planet go green but you have the dough to buy audio items, the more frivolous the better, just never let the audio items become a necessity or your screwed.

amps may come and go but, just like my wife, SDAs are forever(she agrees too and no matter how tight things get she WILL NOT let me sell them).
