Bloodhound SSC

Check out the fuel pump on this thing! It is in the last paragraph, but the article isn't all that long anyway.

It will be a couple of years before it starts running for the record, but it sure is awesome to look at now. I can't wait to see the videos!
I know just enough to be dangerous, but don't tell my wife, she thinks I'm a genius. :D

That's awesome! I've been wondering if anyone would ever break the old record.

I'm sure there are a lot of people funding it. Are there better things to spend money on? Yes...but to some people this is a big hobby. I'm sure many of those people also donate a lot of money to various charities.

Is there a better way to spend 5000 dollars than on stereo equipment? Yes...but it's a hobby to some.;)

The three way power is cool, but it makes the gas engine seem like the weak link in my eyes.

Weakest of the three, yes, but you have to understand why...

    Taken from www.bloodhoundssc.com
In the middle of the BLOODHOUND SSC is the MCT V12 800 bhp race engine which doubles as our APU delivering hydraulic power as needed, starting the EJ200 and of course pumping the High Test Peroxide (HTP) through to the Falcon rocket. The pump has to move a ton of HTP through to the rocket catalyst in 22 seconds and at 1200 psi.

Of course, comparing an 800hp race engine to a combined 130,000hp jet engine/rocket combo isn't exactly fair I guess.

While his fuel and hydraulic pump are 8x more powerful than my Corolla, at least I get better gas mileage!

The gas engine is being used to FEED the synthetic rubber to the rocket engine....
