Has anyone seen this? My search came back empty. It's on it's way to my house via BB. All I've heard is that Marisa Tomei puts on quite the show and show's quite a bit.
If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

It was OK I was a little disappointed, Mickey Rourke's performance was excellent the plot was a little weak and I did not like the way it was filmed. Marisa Tomei was excellent and she does show allot in multiple scenes. If you like her check out Before the Devil Knows You're Dead with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney and Marisa Tomei she
does show allot in the movie only problem is so does Philip Seymour Hoffman which was a little disturbing.

This was probably one of my top two favorite movies of the last year. Excellent performances all around coupled with unbelievable directing by Aranofsky.

Aranofsky is a genius. The Fountain, Pi... stellar movies that deserve multiple viewings.

The Fountain is the only one of his movies I haven't seen. I've probably watched PI over twenty times...

Picking it up today. Will check back in later....I did not see it in theaters so I only know it from reviews. That said I'm a Rourke fan from way back. If you haven't seen it, a really good performance by him in Barfly!

Decent movie, very artistic. Mickey Rourke had an amazing performance and Marissa Tomei really shows alot but does a good job as well. Overall the acting is better than the movie. It will not look good in Blu-Ray, it was filmed very raw.

I hated Requiem for a Dream but loved The Fountain. The reviews on this film I've been reading have pretty much summed it up as excellent. It arrived today so I'm hoping to watch it tonight.

I picked it up from the Redbox today and watched it tonight. Being a wrasslin' fan, yes I admit it, I enjoyed the "behind the scenes" look at an aging wrestler. The camera work seemed to be done in the style of a documentary with lots of obvious walking shots. I was surprised to see many RoH wrestlers in the film. I knew that Dylan Summers, aka Necro Butcher, had an active roll but I didn't know the entire final scene was staged at an RoH house show. Overall the introspective look into Randy "The Ram" Robinson's life was fascinating, but it shows he's an average person. Seeing the problems that are unique to his line of work and the relationship issues that many people have drives this home. I'd give it a B-, primarily for the weak ending. There could have been some resolution there.

Pi, Requiem, and The Wrestler great! Fountain..........unwatchable:mad: A movie so bad it made me mad!

I heard an interview with the director where he insists that The Fountain is the best movie he ever made or ever will make. I tried to watch it again to see what I was missing. Still don't get it.

It seems this is a love it or really, really hate it kind of deal..................I had the same kind of hate for the freakin' Huckabees disaster.

You and I are at a 180 degrees on this one... I thought the Fountain was possibly the most esoteric piece of existence on the universe and I hated the repetitive sequences that would make a hamster on caffeine and ecstasy fall asleep.

I bought this on blu-ray last night on my way home from work last night and watched it. Maybe I waited too long to see it and listened to all of the hype for so long, but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I think it was a good movie, not great. Acting was really good and storyline was Ok - overall I liked it, but just didn't live up to the hype for me.

I guess if you are a "wrestling" fan then this flick may appeal to you. After 25 minutes or so I decied that if a decent plot does not present itself soon I'm giving up. I gave up after 40 minutes in....Just not my cup of tea. I really couldn't see where there was any acting worthy of an award nomination in this and I'm not much for the way it was direcetd either. I think this is one of those you either like it or hate it flicks.

The Wrestler is a great character story. Very rare with most of the overly commercialized flicks that come out of modern Hollywood. Imo you don't have to be a wrestling fan to enjoy it. Afterall, I'm not into boxing but I found Rocky, Raging Bull, and Cinderella Man to be excellent character stories. Not necessarily comparing one to another except to say they are all excellent films that exceed their own little genre bubbles. And I thought the ending was perfect, if not ambiguous. Reminds me of Corleone in Godfather III when he says "Just when I think I make it out, they pull me back in."

It was alright. I would give it a 6/10. It was good enough to actually sit clear through, but that was about it. I don't know why everyone made such a big deal about mickey rourke. He seemed very bland, and monotone to me. I know that was the character, but it seemed that anyone could have pulled it off easily. I know this sounds weird, but it reminded me of the way keeanu reeves plays characters. Nothing he ever says sounds exciting, or sincere.

If it's on HBO later, and I see it on flipping through the channels. I might stop to watch a few minutes of it again, but I will never set clear through it. That pretty much sums up the movie.

I have to agree. The acting is better than the script. It's definitely worth a view...but I wouldn't say it was an award winning film. The idea of the burnt out athlete is hardly a new one and you need a 'new' twist to it--which you don't really have here. Still Rourke was great...but I'm a fan so I don't know if that carries weight.

I had to wait for my wife and daughter to head out of town just so I could watch this because neither of them would sit through it with me.

    3.5 out of 5!
