Congrats; they are not 1.2 TL's though. They have the SL2000's, and the TL's have the SL3000's. The crossover cover does not look like the one that came with the SRS's, so they are probably 1.2's.

They could show up as silver, black, bronze or gold. I'm sure there's someone who has another color interpretation but those are what I've seen.

The SL3000's dome came in several colors; the key difference is on the leads.

I always use Windex on my 7A's. Fold up a paper towel, and spray 6-7 squirts of windex on it, and wipe the drivers off in a circular pattern. Don't use it on the tweeters obviously.;)

Congrats on the new toys! They look great.

As mentioned, you can use windex on the drivers.

Look at the back of the tweeters, are both leads the same size or no?

Leads are the same size, they look like the same ones that were in my SDA 2's

I'm pretty sure you can upgrade those 1.2's very easily to use RD0198-1's and then you can call them 1.2TL's

Do you have a bolt in the back around 10" from the top plates?

Thanks!! and yes there is a bolt on the back.

How did you clean up your x-over plates?

    These cost me $1250.00

If he has 1.2's, then he only has to change a few caps, resistors, and inductors. It doesn't appear too difficult.

Stumbled across this thread.. I guess this is where the great TOOLFORLIFEFAN got his 1.2's...
I am leaving work now for my long trip to get me some tomorrow.
Once you do the crossover work and the new rdo198 tweeters these can be called 1.2TL's.. At this point is there much difference between the 2 versions. Or are they essentially the same.

The 1.2's are closer to the original SRS model than the 1.2tl version in stock form. From what I have read, it is a project to modify these speakers to 1.2tl's. If you like a deeper bass sound I would leave them be and replace the tweets with RDO 194's. They are excellent speakers in there own right. Just food for thought.

    Blue,

I have to disagree with you.

The 1.2's are closer to the 1.2tl's not the SRS. the 1.2's use the same drivers as the tl's the crossover board is even close to the tl's. and yes they can be upgraded to tl's so you can use the RDO-198's.

And I disagree do not leave them as is, upgrade them to the tl's so you can use the RDO-198's

I stand corrected. I forgot about the drivers. I know Polk made a tl upgrade, so you are probably right about the crossover board. I used RDO 194's on my 1.2's and was pleased with the upgrade. For whatever reason they do sound in stock form like the originals. They both used the SL2000's but the 1.2's are easier to drive at 6 ohms than the originals at 4 ohms. I guess if I didn't have 1.2tl's I would consider the upgrade. Either way it's a great speaker.
