ok, ok, ok. this is not my 8-track. i got it off the net. For those young guys who have never ever seen an 8-track. here it is. Does anyone have a favorite 8-track they used to play over and over again? For me it was the Beatles, I played that thing a bazillion and one times.

the title of this thread is Movies and Music - all current formats but my 8-track post didn't fit anywhere else. :p

does anyone still have an 8-track player or 8-tracks? What about your parents?

I knew someone who had an 8-track in his car. It was one of those huge 70's cars that still managed to be a 2-door despite its vast size. He had a veritable head shop stored in various trays on the drive shaft "hump". He scraped the accumulated resin off his windshield once when he was low on "supplies". He was arrested when he was in an accident & was so out of it that he didn't bother to remove the goods even though he had time & opportunity to get rid of them. Anyway, I believe that Zep, Tull, ZZ Top, Yes, & various other usual suspects were played on it. Not that I was ever in the car, of course.;)

8 Track Tapes: 2 minutes into a song, fade out, CA-CHUNK, fade back in, continue song. Unless it was The Allman Brothers Band, "Live At The Filmore", then it was: play song for 10 minutes, fade out, CA-CHUNK, fade back in, continue same song for 10 more minutes, fade out, CA-CHUNK, fade back in, continue SAME SONG!

I had a friend with a dark green 1971 Ford Torino Fastback (351 engine as I recall), he had a large collection of 8-tracks that we used to jam out to after Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps rehearsals. Our favs were Deep Purple and Mountain, but he also had The Best of Bread. Weird, huh?

I had an 8track in the old dodge dart. The car must have weighed 6K lbs. with no power steering. I listened to ac/dc and lynard skynard. oooh oooh that smell, can't you smell that smell!

I had several that were underdash mounts which were a pain. My last one was a pretty good machine that I mounted on the transmission hump between the front bucket seats of my Mustang...that way you had control of everthing right there at your fingertips. I even had a 8 Track recorder that I made copies off of vinyl to play in the car. Jethro Tull, Mountain, LedZeppelin were favorites. Bust open a 8 track and it was a convienient place to store/hide things ...

Anyone remember the "Quadraphonic" 8's???? First one I had was a Blue Oyster Cult album, followed by The Doors "Absolutely Live" My fondest 8 track memory??? Being the first kid on the block to have Boston's debut album, and watching my air guitar buddie's wail away. Damn! I'm showing my age on this one.

Sammy's "standing hampton"......AC/DC's "Highway To Hell"....Molly Hatchet's "Frlirtin With Disaster" and then after the bones were passed, Pink Floyd "The Wall". A friend of mine had a big-**** '72 Ford LTD Brougham that was baby **** green. I think the 8 track was a Realistic brand and we hooked up a 3 band Sparkomatic EQ/Booster. After a few beers, it was all good.

I forgot the Molly Hatchet 8 track.......

This was when Jensen Triax II speakers were the best car speakers I thought you could get and instead of big subs being cool(never even heard of them in those days) you had to have a big **** eq with tons of lights that bounced up and down.

Damn, I need a ride in a Mach 1 again.

    hi wallstreet,

i notested that you have the cs-350 for the front center and the cs-400i for the rear center, i have the same center speakers, i tryed the same as you have yours now but didnt like it that way had to put back as, cs-400i front center, i put my cs-400i on end to it sounds a lot better that way to me. go to systems showcase and look at my system under joe logston to see how i have mine.
