This was a successful show on HBO for a few years.

The one hour interview is all straight talk about America.

Check it out if you have the time.

    This is a great show.
I borrowed all five seasons from a friend and knocked em out quick.
The HBO started posting them on On-Demand and I have been rewatching them.

    Outstanding show

I love this show, waiting for it to come out on blu-ray. They actually canned the show due to realism. Can you believe it, HBO canned a show for it being too real.

    Blu-ray??? its not even 16:9

    taken from below link

"The reason the show has stayed 4x3 is because David Simon thinks that 4x3 feels more like real life and real television and not like a movie. The show's never been HD, even 4x3 HD and that (SD) is how it is on the DVDs. There is no 16x9 version anywhere."

Awesome show as I have season 1-4 and need to finish it out. If you've been in Bmore then surely you will know its damn near real. Surely I can relate as I have relatives up there and Brooklyn, its really crazy out there. Excellent show.

Also if you like The Wire, check out The Corner, if you like both of those, check out the movie Shottas.
    Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Home Theater Pics in the Showcase

I found the realism almost to real, that is, can things be that bad and hopeless?

Bill just lets David talk about The Wire, his life as a reporter and some of his conclusions about life. It's a good talk to listen to and you see how the show grew. There are many selections from the Wire to back up some of David's comments. They don't make reporters like him anymore. His comments about many daily newpapers going under was that the politicans will be very happy. There will be no one who knows the beat like the reporters.

By far the best ground-breaking dramatic series in television history to date.
Not driven by characters, the only “star” in the series was the American city named Baltimore.
I guarantee you that the series and David Simon’s style of filmmaking for episodic television will be taught in Cinema Studies departments at major universities in the years to come. The Wire is akin to an exceptionally written book with all of the subtleties and nuanced characters.
Just like great literature, you can pick it up at different times and reveal previously undiscovered perspectives. In fact David Simon said in an NPR interview for Fresh Air about two years ago that each season should feel like you’ve “completed a good book” upon completion.
