I've been using a pair of MIT Magnum M-3s (and didn't know it)

Yep, its true.
About 6 weeks ago, I bought a pair of MIT Shotgun S-3 ICs off A-gon. They arrived in the original MIT Shotgun box and I was so excited to put them in the system that I didn't even realize the seller had mistakenly sent me a pair of Magnums instead of Shotguns. And they have been out of sight (behind my rig) ever since...
Well, fast forward to last week and the seller noticed that he was missing his M-3s when they were to have been purchased on A-gon. So he e-mailed me and then I replied from my office, noting "I'm pretty sure that I you sent me the Shotguns not Magnums." After I returned home, though, I noticed that in fact M-3s had been in my system all along. I can't belief I overlooked it.
Anyway, I of course e-mailed him right away to make arrangements. I'll be sending them out tomorrow and he's already sent me the Shotguns. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford (i.e. justify for my system) the Magnums. In addition, since my other set of ICs are Shotgun S-3s I wouldn't get the full sonic benefit unless I had upgraded all around...but I'm still wondering, am I now going to be in the very weird position of being disappointed with a pair of Shotguns...ha, ha...unthinkable before.

Very Cool to do the right thing! You are the man!Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin:

We need more people like you in the world.

Well done Norm! The big question is: What if you like the Magnum over the S-3?

Norm, allow me to apologize up front for what I'm about to say. I don't mean to crap on your thread.
To you cheesed@ck taggers:
This is not a cable discussion thread. This is a thread about a honest man with more integrity than both of you put together. If you persist in calling us morons, why are you here?
Back off this thread or at least be man enough to take ownership of your posting. But then that would take courage and integrity of which you are lacking.

Fortunately (for my wallet), I won't get to address that question for the time being, at least not to my satisfaction.
I think everybody has different levels of aural memory...mine might not be as good as others.
When I usually test one cable against another, I have to do it back to back to really discern the difference (if any) and how big it is. Since there is a gap of a few days between when I sent the M-3s (today) and when I receive the S-3s (this coming Thursday, according to UPS tracking) I won't have a chance to really test one against the other.
Something tells me I'll be plenty satisfied with the Shotguns all around. I am quite certain that with a rig that offers higher resolution than mine, the Magnums would be a desired step up...or maybe I just really don't want to know so that I don't become tempted to start putting money aside!
But I'm thinking that speaker cable and power cord upgrades will take precedence over any additional IC upgrades...oh, the humanity...does this ever end?2 Ch.

The only reason you will be disappointed in the Shotguns is if you think too much about it.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Good man Norm.

I'd sue the guy. The reasoning would be that you can no longer stand lower cost cables and therefore have to spend more money, a loss caused by the seller.

Some newbies here will want to hang you!
"Too bad, his mistake, tell him you have the Shotguns". "His loss is your gain". "You were stupid to by the S3's in the first place, don't you know copper is copper?? You can't possibly hear a difference?" I can hear it now!Carl -
You'll be rewarded for your integrity Norm. That's how karma works. Enjoy your new cables.
Well, as far as I am concerned good karma came in the form of a notification that the Bada CDP I ordered quite some time ago finally shipped today.
S-3s will arrive Thursday, the Bada on Friday....something tells me I'll be a little busy Friday night. Kind of feels like old times as a kid waiting for Christmas. I'm pretty excited, here.
Oh...and tomorrow 4/22 marks one year as a member here -- once again no way I could have got even to close to where I am without the guidance found here. Thanks guys!2 Ch.
