Would this play in a redbook player and is it better than the remastered version? Ive heard japan CDs are usually better quality the the usa versions. Its pretty expensive too.Just wondering if I should just get the remastered version instead...

The XRCD's will play in std redbook CD players. I have a few XRCD's and they are for the most part significantly better than the std CD's. I have one of Private Dancer by Tina Turner that I would rate the mastering as not up to the std's the other XRCD's I have are.DKG999

Well, I have the XRCD of BIA. When compared to the redbook, it does offer higher resolution but at a cost. The noise floor is higher and it runs a little hot. The SACD version is the best sound so far. I have around 7 or so versions of this album in all formats but cassette and RTR. I might have to try this one as well, just to see.
You got a linky as to where you see this version available?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

Hmmm....that's interesting. "Private Dancer" was one of two pop XRCD titles officially released here in the States. I'd think the remastering would be more to the liking to those of us in North America.
Be aware the XRCD of "Brothers in Arms" was commissioned by Hong Kong Universal Music and is supposedly for sale only in that city. Therefore, the remastering may be done to accommodate the ears of that city's audiophile. Otherwise, I have heard great things about the "Brothers In Arms" XRCD. -
Very trustworthy reseller. I've been a customer of their for a while. They are an actual brick-and-mortar music store. -
The SACD version makes the XRCD version sound like garbage.Political Correctness'.........defined

I have XRCD version and several regular versions of Dire Straits. XRCD mastering sounds better than the regular CD. I also have a few HDCD that sounds better than regular CDs.
Of coz, a good remastered SACD and DVD-A is definitely better than both.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -

I haven't heard the XRCD of "Brothers In Arms", but the SACD is soooooooo good (in 2 channel stereo) that it will be very hard, if impossible, to top that SACD. And the SACD is cheaper too.
