A friend gave me all his old DIscwasher stuff which includes a Zerostat 3.

I get a slight shock with it so I believe it works. How do you use it on an album?

Thanks,

Tracy

It's been 25 years since I used one, but from memory, this is what I recall.

Hold the gun 10" to 12" above the record. Slowly (2 to 3 seconds) sqeeze the trigger, then release the trigger just as slowly. Do this in 3 or 4 places around the record.

Maybe someone has the original instructions to confirm.

One more question. Am I suppose to leave this cap on or off ? The cap appears to have a bulb of sorts that lights briefly when I pull trigger fast and release fast

The cap is just a tester, to verify the unit works when you pull the trigger. It is supposed to be removed for actual use.

Wow, they still make these things. Although they are made in China instead of the UK, and have gone up from $20 to $100!

Anyways, here are some instructions that mention the testing cap.

    http://www.2spi.com/catalog/photo/useinst.html

If you don't remove the cap, you will be grounding the electrode with the bulb, and it won't do anything.
