Yeah, we really had a great time. We have been having these get togethers about every month it seems at different people's places. We all have been on a gear binge lately. All of Rob's equipment; Monarchy amps, pre/dac, Denon cdp, Mirage speakers, Panamax power conditioner are formerly my brother's (Blakeh) so he could buy all his new stuff which incldued Ted's former BAT VK-60's.

He moves into a new house next weekend with a dedicated room so the next RAS (Rockford Audio Society) gathering will be there to hear ALL his new gear!!!

We really sucked Rob in to this hobby fast!!! He had a nice setup before with Vandersteen 2CE's, Onkyo reciver, Onkyo cdp along with his Project One/Blue Point table.

Within a month he was hooked!!!! The guy has a great appreciation for all types of music as well as a vast knowledge about many, many artists. We enjoy the gear as much as discovering new music and discussing all things music.

I highly encourage people to find some passionate local's to get together with as it's a great way to spend a day!

+ 1 to that! Great fun, great listening. Rob has an awesome room and wonderful sounding system! I got lost looking at albums and Rob had to step in and pick something to play. Nice pics Blake. Looking forward to our next get together.

Great pics. Looks like a lot of fun.

Don't mean to be an intruder to the RAS, but I couldn't help but notice the discussion on the Bada and the lack of difference you guys heard between the tube and the SS outputs, (and since I can post there) I thought I would raise it here.

Dave, technically you had them replace the stock Chinese tube with the GE 5670, right? So, wouldn't the answer to their second question also be yes. Do you plan to reply to them / bring it up again or are you just going to let it go?

Anyway, please keep us updated if you do and hear anything else from Pacific Valve.

Nice pics and its always great to read comments on gear that you havent heard personally and come from "real people" in real world conditions instead of magazine reviewers. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us. :)

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Yeah, it sure looks that way , but I can assure you it wasn't. Just one of those unposed, caught at the wrong moment poses. :p

Those BAT's are very nice sounding and it was cool when one of the power tubes blew. Just like being in front of the paparazzi !!!.

Nah, we were winding things down at that point. Blake will move into the new house this weekend and he has stereo gear stored all over the city. Those amps are still at Rob's and the other Aaron has some stuff, I have his newly aquired BAT pre-amp, etc.

So once we get everything together and set up in his new house we'll replace the tube. He just bought a total of 24 replacements 6 of each type for the future.

You are correct, as far as we could tell it didn't damage anything, but we shut her down when it really started to glow orange.
