I bought the Polk Surround Bar 360 and would like to get a bit more out of it. Would a PSW series subwoofer help or any other recommendations would be helpful.

I'm in the same boat, same system, the bass sounds fine out of the 360. My question is, what would a sub really do for me? Is it worth the money. -
Hi THBlue -
Polk doesn't give the low frequency response on the 360 Bar, but based on the other Bars, its probably 70Hz. So, on music you are missing from 40Hz to 69Hz (bass drum, bottom notes on bass guitar and piano). On DVD movies, you are missing from 25Hz to 69Hz - this is where the LFE (low frequency effects) reside.
But, if you like the sound you have now, stay with it.____________________________________________

Thanks Mike, I do think the bass coming out of the bar now sounds good, but as you suggested, I'm pretty sure I'm missing some things. I have no problem with spending up to $250 but I think I 've read every sub thread on the internet and am a little overwhelmed.

Hi THBlue
Your budget limits the type, power and quality of sub you can get.
However, to go with a soundbar you don't need a giantkiller sub.
Sony makes a sub with a 10" woofer and 100 watts power. It is on the small side so easy to fit in a small living room. I use 2 of them in my hometheater. These subs sound better than the $99 price would indicate. I highly recommend one.
You can buy direct from Sony at:

P. S.
The Sony sub gets down to 28Hz which is really low for a $99 sub.____________________________________________

First, my apologies if this question has previously been discussed on this thread, I 'searched' and didn't find it referenced, Anyway, I have a PSW1000 sub, that seems to not have any power...I have checked several outlets, the a/c main is on, and I have used both auto and 'on' settings on the toggle. I get no lights (red or green) on the front, no electronic 'humming', and no test signal when run thru the processor (JBL AV1 with an AV7 amp). I'm connecting from the 'sub out' on the processor to the 'line in 1&2' on the sub. Does anyone know if the psw has a fuse, circuit breaker or something similar that I might have blown in my exuberance of watching Quantum of Solace? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer...

Strongly suggest to go with Polk, check on polk direct ebay or www.newegg.com
they have some nice subs for less than 200, which will match with the SB360, sony is not for speakers i would say, and that sub is rated at 10% thd which is unacceptable. -

jon, Can't tell you if your PSW1000 has a fuse or not, but would be surprised if it did not. Best advice I could give is to repost this in the "troubleshooting" section as that is the only area that Polk techs monitor. I am sure they can help -
Thanks for the input guys. Tom
