MY wife stumbled across an estate sale in the neighborhood. She picked up some stuff which we don't need but she did pick me up a dozen or so albums.

Anyway, when she got home and was sorting out her goodies she found this Mens dress Omega watch in the original case and box.

Surfed a few Omega sites, tough crowd at some of those sites. ANyway, if you know Omega watchs and tell me something about this watch it would be great.

I cant say a lot about this particular watch without looking inside to see what model it is but it is 14k gold and as you know omega makes some very nice watches it appears to be a simple by watch standards watch, in other words it's not a chronograph or other highly complicated watch which of course drives the value up. It most likely retailed for somewhere in the 5k to 7k range and would probally sell for around $1200.00 or so now because it has it's original box.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

The numbers are 112184 and DD6879 according to the appraisal that was done in 1997(found that in the box), at that time for insurance purpose the letter said $6000.

She paid $2 for the garmet bag she found it in.

Snow, do you happen to what year this watch is possibly?

So are you going to take it back and ask them if they meant to include it in a $2 bag of stuff?

I'm doubting they knew it was in there.

I dont know as much about watches as a watchmaker does, and I dont have any books at home and I am mainly into jewelry but I think it was made on september 7th 1968. The appraisal seems to be accurate allright that would cover the cost of full retail new replacement value.

do the right thing on this one... ther may be HUGE sentimental value for this watch... a gift from a son to his father perhaps? You never know, they may say keep it, but you may also bring a smile to someone in their time of grief:)

The owner sold the house and contents to a company that is selling everything off.

So no, no plans to do anything but put in a safe. Its not like it was found on the side of the road. No diffent than someone finding a painting at a yard sale and finding out it is a priceless piece of art.

    Thanks Snow for the information.
