I have a lead on a set of SDA-2B speakers but already have a set of RTA-12B and RTA-12C speakers.

Are the SDA-2Bs considered better speakers than the RTA-12s? If I get the SDA-2Bs something has to go.

Pretty unanimous support for the SDA-2Bs. Looks like I'm going to go for them. May cost me my marriage but you have to have priorities.

I wasn't able to pick up the SDA 2B speakers over the weekend due to a bad back but will pick up this week. I really can't wait to hear these speakers! I've been able to get the manual and am intrigued about how this interconnect cable and the SDA system works.

These speakers were a friend of a friends fathers, and they do sound like they are going to be mint. He even has the original boxes, manuals, and of course the interconnect cable.

I am going to use these SDAs in my main system (Hafler DH-500 Power amp and DH-110 preamp) and probably use the RTA 12Bs in my home theatre system or in the bedroom. My brother came and got a set of my RTA 12Cs over the weekend so I'm back in my wife's good graces.

    Good for you.
You are really going to love the 2b's. Proper placement and you should be set, ooops you should but a pair of RDO-194's too.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but those speakers have SL2000 tweeters. And though, from what I've read and am soon to hear for myself? "Most" people feel the replacement tweeters are 'better' but there are a 'few' people who do not share that opinion.

It is a bit confusing because again, if I'm understanding this correctly, the original tweeter is a trilaminate polymide surface, and the replacement is a treated SILK fabric dome? How does that work? Wouldn't that just alter the sound so much so as to have a speaker with very different sound qualities from the original. I also understand that people tweak the crossovers and replace any other number of things that I could never replace?

I don't even know if I'm asking a question here...yeah I guess I am....what's wrong with SL2000s? And why is the RDO-194 better when it is pretty much a COMPLETELY different beast?

Apparently the SL2000 has some sort of hump that causes the sound to get really bright at certain frequencies.

Always a good laugh whenever reading how much the wives love big speakers.........

I told Lani that I was going to use the Mirage M-1's as our custom coffins and the SRS 2.3's for tombstones :D

At that price a no brainer, worse comes to worse you can always resell for what you paid....and maybe she'll say "WOW the music has never sounded so nice"
