I've got some speakers that look like these and have p/b ICs, but I've read that only the ones with the "slab" on the top and bottom are actually true 2B models. Does anyone know if speakers that look like the ones in the link, & with p/b ICs, can be Bs or are they just 2s or 2As. Thanks for any ID help !!:)

I have a line on a set of SDA-2B speakers but I already have a set of RTA-12B and RTA-12C speakers that really sound good.

Are the SDA-2B speakers considered a better speaker than than the RTA-12s?

I need to get rid of something if I get the SDA-2Bs.

OOPS, I just looked at the ones in the CL ad again, mine have an additional/recessed base that the ones in the ad do not. Does that indicate a non-B speaker even if mine are pin/blade type ? I guess that with all of the different versions produced within a model series, the only way to be sure of what I've got is to pull the XOs and teach myself how to post pictures so someone can tell from the pics. I really hope they're 2Bs so I can perform the "TL" upgrade on them as well as applying some real wood veneer to the cases.:) Thanks !!

Go with the SDA 2B's. Drive them with a good amp or vintage monster receiver and you will start to look for more SDA's. It's a sickness and we are the support group. Let us know how you make out.

JT, thanks for the link, I'd already determined that mine were 2Bs in spite of what some other members had stated about them based on the cabinet appearance. I tried a search or two and never got very good results, then I went to the SDA stickies and found the driver list/timeline and determined that my ****umptions were correct for a change ! :D

....Am i MISSING something>>??? Seems like a NO brainer. If it is "PIN & Blade" it is a 2 B.

Anyone ever heard of a SDA 2 A with "Pin and Blade". Check below: "P&B" = 2B is the RULE
...You CAN have a SDA 2b with "B&B" but not the rule.

1984---SDA 2, two tweeters, two MW6501 drivers per cabinet, blade/blade SDA cable.

1986---SDA 2A, one tweeter, two MW6510 drivers per cabinet, blade/blade SDA cable.

March 1987---SDA 2B, one tweeter, one MW6503 stereo driver, and one MW6511 SDA driver per cabinet, blade/blade SDA cable.

October 1987---SDA 2B-revision 1, one tweeter, one MW6503 stereo driver, and one MW6511 SDA driver per cabinet, pin/blade SDA cable.

1989---SDA 2B-revision 2, one tweeter, one MW6503 stereo driver, and one MW6511 SDA driver per cabinet, pin/blade SDA cable. Polyswitch is changed.

And there is a 3/4" sub base if that helps on my Light Oak "Studio" 2 B's

DEE, not at all, I posted my findings on your FS thread to counter those that stated that your 2s were As and not Bs, I've been told several times that cabinets like yours and mine are in no way 2Bs. Now,hopefully the subject can be put to rest. I think that it's hard to decipher the older Polks due to the changes and part substitutions made within model runs. If some of the long time veterans here can't be sure.....I certainly don't have chance in Hell ! :) Are you sure you want to sell those nice Bs?? You might regret it later !!!:(

You are not missing a thing I just did not want to dick up your for sale thread. Pulling the drivers is one sure way to know. But you are right if they are pin blade it is a 2b. Good luck with your sale.
