Hi all, after months and months of saving and debating what would best suit my needs and my budget, I finally got my VSX-03! Very cool! It does take some tweaking once you get it up and running.
I ran through the MCACC, but haven't gone through it thoroughly enough to get it right yet. I was fortunate enough to be able to shop at HiFi Heaven in Green Bay, WI! What an awesome place that is. I was able to listen to the 05 w/ ICE, and compared it with the 03 on a pair of Vandersteens they had set up.
I know this may draw criticism, but to me, the difference in sound was negligible. As for my taste, and my meager set up, the 03 fits quite well, especially for only $499!
I will give follow up information as I get it.
Question: Do you guys have any better directions on the MCACC than the manual gives? I thought that you could set it up for several seating positions, like the Onkyo's?
My main problem now is, that it was a 2 hr drive there and back. Well, I have severe nerve damage in my back which causes me debilitating pain. So, by the time I got home yesterday, it was all I could do to muddle through the MCACC quickly just to get it up and running. Today, I have been confined to bed and my computer chair.:D
So, I am enlisting any help I can get with tricks and tips for the MCACC. Please forgive me if this has been addressed. If you could just point me in the right direction, that would be great!
Blessings to all of you,
Matt

Congrats on new receiver. Don't think anyone will dump on that model. Now if you want to get people excited...read a few of the reviews on the 2nd generation Panasonic class D AVRs...where some people claim it was better in digital than 2-3000 dollar AVRs and amps for it's power (80W/at 8 ohms). I own one of those...had it for years. And you know..it sounds pretty clean. Supposedly that was before the 'break-throughs' of the ICE-power amp. Now that might get people going...or not?

Metal83 had posted this link to help some one else with the MCACC on a previous thread...Hope it helps.
after reading a little I plan to redo mine.
I hope your back feels better...
P.S. How would you discribe the differances between the 03 and the SC you heard?
Thanks Pedler -
Congrats did you see the big McIntosh speakers and setup they had.

Pedler, thanks...I have good days and bad days.
I would say the difference between the 03 & 05 involved the level of detail. The 05 was slightly more detailed than the 03. To me, the 03 is great! I don't have the kind of money it takes to get the 05 anyway. I have a monthly allowance that I get. So, I save my pennies, and upgrade when I am able.

Thanks leroyjr1. Shaa, HUGE, unbelievably HUGE. You would need a room full of Benjamins to trade for those bad boys. Those are some really awesome toys. I would love to have heard them, but I wasn't able to hang around that long.

Can't say I have much to add. I purchased my 01 a month or so ago ran MCACC with my fronts and center. Got my rears in the mail yesterday and haven't had the chance to run it again. I think I will just wait until the weekend to spend any time with it since I should be getting my amp in Friday. Anyway, congrats and thanks Pedler for posting that link.Theater rig:

Polkapolka, I used those simple instructions when setting up my VSX-01 and they were VERY helpful. Got my system sounding much better than I did when following the manual on the first attempt. Congrats on the VSX-03 BTW.Hopefully it brings a smile to your face.

Thanks Falcon01, I will take a look at that and try it as soon as I get a chance! Well, the 03 has brought a very large smile to my face. I just love it. The sounds are so precise and detailed. Very, very nice. I am just so thankful that I was able to buy this amp!
If I hadn't found HiFi Heaven's ad with the $499 price, I would not have been able to buy this amp. I still can't believe it. It just rocks.
The system you see in the sig. is all brand new, I started at Christmas, and have just finished with the main set up that you see here.:)
Yes, of course, I know we are never done upgrading, are we?
