I heard the original on the radio while driving home and decided to look it up on Youtube since it's one of my all time favorite songs. I came across various artists trying to cover it, but all sucked balls. I clicked on the one by Pink and was sure it would be a disaster as well...but oh my...of all singers to friggin nail it...it was Pink. I never thought in a million years she could sing like this.

No excuses!

Friend of mine can do this song perfectly, via karaoke or live band cover. Didn't know Pink would "settle down" long enough to sing the song.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Yep...Janis didn't write this song, but covered it. Janis did it better though.

The Dead did it even better though IMO.

Pretty good version of the song also. Kris was smart and talented as a songwriter. But, his performances were just so, so. I can't remember too many songs by Kris. Another that I can recall from that era was "Why Me Lord?"

howzabout Sunday Morning Coming Down? The Man in Black made sure that one was pretty well known.
so was Help Me Make it Through the Night; covered by lots of folks...

EDIT: oh, his own performances? Yeah, he was sort of an idiosyncratic singer. And a Rhoades Scholar/Oxford graduate. And a US military officer. And (apparently) an instructor at West Point.
