I've never had a problem with my PS3, but I have high speed Internet service into my home that has been down about 2 minutes in the past 13 years so I probably didn't miss much :D.

It's a dynamic, brave new world guys. If you aren't connected 24/7, you are missing updates and things will just plain stop working properly.

The general public demands constant improvement. It's simply ignorant to say "(Sony/Microsoft/Apple/Symantec/McAfee/etc.). . . sucks" if your systems are offline.

Thanks for the more detailed info Cheddar, I guess I was reffering more to some of the issues with the other players out there. I know there's a few problems with some movies recently with some Panasonic player, I know Twilight won't play on some Panasonic players and they're waiting on firmware updates.

Yeah, BD-Java continues to be a problem both with players and with how the studios author all the goodies on their disks. (It also contributes to all those load times staring at the stupid load icons for ages.) The ps3 is unique in that it is more like a PC than an A/V component. So I'm guessing you can have a very full Java implementation on it. Other blu-ray players may not have the overhead, so they always seem to be playing catch up.
