    Ive always liked the sound,and the build quality of the ES cd players.For the last year I have been using the Cambridge 840c.It has good detail ,but a slightly flat,almost recessed soundstage.I have just replaced it with the Sony 5400es and the sound is very different.The sony is WAY more detailed and three dimensional.My srs 1.2tls soundstage has expanded even more than usual!The only downside is the extra resolution can sometimes produce an overly bright sound on older lower quality rcordings.If you like clarity,try the sony.
