MJ Acoustics Sub Experience

Have any of you folks ever had any experience with MJ Acoustics subwoofers. I wonder how they compare to REL. Down the road I may consider adding a sub to my 2CH should I feel the need for bass enhancement. This sub will be strictly for music AND NOT HT. Thanks for the info.

It is my understanding that certain people left Rel to form MJ Acoustics. So I imagine they would be fairly similar. However, the thing that bothers me about MJ Acoustics is that they don`t really list their specifications regarding frequency response.

The REF 200 was one of the ones on my list.
Mike, the web site seems to list some good specs, maybe not all but most. Here are the specs for the REF 200.
Reference 200 Specifications:

If I were to judge just by looking at the specs that you posted, I wouldn't even look at these subs.
Frequency response listed has no level associated with it. Is that 13 Hz at 0dB, -3dB, -6dB (most likely for that driver size and amplifier power). Even amplifier is listed as '200W' - no mention whether it's peak or RMS, also type of the amplifier is not mentioned. Very poor approach IMHO.

I hear you Viper. What I really want is a sub purely for music. I am not looking for the "boom" as I have that with my SVS sub for HT. Finding a sub strictly for music with seamless integration is difficult to do. I did own an old REL Strata I years ago and it was great for music but poor for HT. I think REL does this side of things pretty good and then a friend told me about MJA. Any thoughts as to different brands. Thanks.
PS - The REL Stentor III would be my choice but a little more $ than I want to pay.Michael

Mike, I'd look specifically at sealed/servo subs, if you want a musical sub. I haven't heard a high-end REL, so I can't comment on them. I have had great luck with NHT (my current SubTwo) and Velodyne (vintage ULD-15 servo) for music.Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies

You have nice speakers.
When I hit the music sub corridor of the rabbit hole I quickly retreated and installed a lock on the door that can never be opened.
I would of thought the thawing process was in full swing, however, perhaps your still suffering from frozen thought syndrome???

I am forward thinking. When it come to truly test the 2CH in its entirety, I will know if I need anything else or not. I still see snow in my driveway, but it will be gone in a couple of weeks - HOPEFULLY.Michael
