Polk Audio's flagship speakers, why made them 4 ohm, and had to power for regular receivers?

Because in that price range -- I think Polk half way expects people with these speakers to have upper end receivers or some form of seperates.

Welcome to the Forum. I was wondering why they make LSi so difficult to spell.

    It's because they are Spearkers.

LOL! Welcome to Club Polk Wow! I doubt they intentially set out to make the LSI's difficult to power. That's is just how they turned out once they achieved the sound Matt Polk wanted for them.

But if you have the money to buy all the power they need to sound their best, you end up being a real happy camper!

It seems the Polks top speakers are always hard to power. SDA's and LSi's both benefit from real power behind them.

As far as why - not really sure. I would guess that those are just the drivers that they thought sounded the best for the price they wanted to hit.

You could also ask - why do people insist on driving a companies top of the line speaker with mid-grade or lower electronics?

I agree, Those speakers will sound best with separates, an Amp
with high current will make them sing:D

The ring radiator tweeter in the LSi series is a 4 ohm driver. The RTi series is a better choice for use with a receiver.
