I was about to buy an XPA-3 when I came across this amp on my local CL. I don't much about amps as I am just building my system now. He has it listed at 500. Can anyone comment on this. Should I pick it up or go with the XPA-3? The specs and reviews look good to me but like I said I am new to this. I appreciate the help.

I would definitely get the Parasound amp. I heard a couple of them at my local home theatre store and the detail in the soundstage was phenominal. Plus it's already broken in and you're getting it cheaper than the XPA-3 I'm assuming? Bonus!

I would search for some reviews but Parasound is known to make some great amps.

Thanks John - so I guess value wise it's a better buy than the XPA-3 even though it's quite old?

Amps can last for years. Parasound makes great gear. My first real amp was a Parasound 1500A.

Intel92, if you get it let us know how it sounds. I have a VSX-01 receiver like you do so I am especially curious as to how much it improves your sound. :)

I definitely will. At this point I don't think I could be happier with the 01. But I just keep hearing about the RTi12s with an amp are outstanding. I think they sound great right now. Can't wait till my surrounds get here. Then once I get my amp it will be time to hunt for my sub.

I am trying to be right around the 500 price range but thanks. I just sold my old speakers for 600. Preferably I could get an amp and be able to throw a hundred my wife's way to keep her quiet!
