My friend has a pair of the polk audio RT10's and the midbass woofers in both speakers are shot.they are a 7 1/2" driver. i'm sure they can be rebuilt but. does anyone know where i can get used woofers for this speaker or if any company makes a woofer this size with the same specs and how much they would cost.

You can order them direct from polk. Just call the number at the top right of the site. Tell them you are a club polk memeber, and you will get a discount and free shipping.Sony 40" LCD

Maybe someone else with more knowledge will chime in. If they aren't available through polk and the internet searches come up with nothing, then you can always find a midbass that would fit, it just may not be a polk. Try partsexpress, or madisound. You will definitely be able to find something that would fit, but the sound will be a hit or miss. There are many options, you just need to measure the speakers to find the right size. Both sites list driver dimentions. Good luckSony 40" LCD

thank you. i looked at partsexpress and they have no 7 1/2 woofers nor does madisound. polk audio told me i could use and 8' woofer but would have to do sum cutting but i'm not going to do that. is there a way to get the 7'' woofer to fit?

There's no way to do it without modification of some sort. It would be much easier to make the hole bigger than to fabricate some sort baffle/bracket to make a smaller speaker fit. I would also double check the measurements on the woofer. Many companys have different ways of measuring, so company A's 7.5" woofer may actually be the same size as company B's 8" woofer. Look at the pdf specs and measurements listed on madisound or PE's websites. You will notice that all 8" or 7" speakers are not actually the same size. It will take some time, but there's a good chance you can find one that will come close to fitting. However, just because it fits, doesn't mean it will sound good. This may be a good time to wash your hands of this project and find some good used gear that works, since this one may turn out to be more trouble and money than the end result is worth. Good luck!:)Sony 40" LCD
