Two PSW10 vs. Single PSW111, which is better?

I have some budget limits for subwoofer(s) (about 200 bucks). Currently I'm using a PSW10 together with CS20(center)/Monitor 50(front)/Onkyo TXSR606/VM10(surround). My room is about 20(d)x10(w)x8(h).

By reading some posts here, I get tempted to set up dual subs. The total market price of two PSW10 subs is the same (or even under) as one PSW111.

Can anyone here give me some comments about the pros and cons of these two settings?

Thanks,

PSW111 hands down the better sub.

Tighter, louder, more powerful. A really nice little sub for mid to small rooms. Two would be even better--will really help those M50s on the bottom end! Some people complain about port noise on the 10, not a problem with the 111.

I have a psw111 and was happy with it at first. Now though I am wishing that I had went with a larger more powerful sub. It's not a bad choice, but it does'nt go that deep. I have RTI a5's for my mains, and if I set them to large and run my sub LFE+mains, the A5's are almost as deep and as loud.

If you can put forth the extra 60 or 70$, the psw 505 would probably do a lot better. I'm looking to upgrade mine now, and am thinking of the 505. I really might hold out though, and get one of the svs subs. I really wish I could hear some of the other subs out there before I made a purchase, but that is not an option for me.

I'd forget the PSW505 since its discontinued and think about the DSW PRO 4/5/600 series. Save your money, its worth it.

The DSW400 is not that much more than his budget and a better subwoofer than the PSW505. The MicroPro 1000 is 2x the cost of the DSW PRO 400, just FYI....but nice suggestion I guess.

    Xcapri...

You're running 4 505s in a bedroom? How big a bedroom are you talking about because I run two Bostons that are pretty similar to 505s in abilities in a 25 X 11.5 X 8.5 room and they're capable of terrorizing my wife's office on the second floor? Can't run them at full volume without having neighbors call me?

    You must like your Bass?

I'm sure people on here know this, but I have never seen it posted before. SVS has a b list page sort of like polk direct. The discounts are not near as good, but you can save about 10-15% on a few items. Right now there is a PB12-nsd for 519$. If I had the money right now it would be mine.

Jim Smith writes glowingly of dual subs in his highly regarded book (see 6moons review) Get Better Sound BUT his reasoning for this is the effect of 2 subs on the soundstage. IF your sub output is monaural, then this is doesn't apply. This is only a factor if you have a stereo output for your subs, so that there is a left right signal.

So I think dual subs would make sense if your aim is a more realistic soundstage and imaging, but maybe not if you are thinking about dual subs for other reasons. And I'd go with a nice single sub if your output was monaural regardless.

good advice. although my preference would be no sub for music.
