Just curious as to anyone out there uses and or likes these formats for traditional analog sources. I for the most part am partial to 2 channel stereo.
This weekend I was messing around because I have some live recordings on CD's that are not of the best quality. Both these formats do a nice job of creating a concert soundfield. I especially like the DTS Neo 6 because of the 360 surround. Turned the lights off, cranked the tunes and it was almost like being there...neat stuff.
Regards,
Nat

Nat - In my dedicated HT room I fell in love with surround music.
2 channel just sounds dull to me now. Between DVDA and my Onkyo's dsp 6channel stereo i am in music heaven.
In my livingroom setup I listen to 2 channel with my rt25i's but my kitchen and dining room speakers are always blasting along too. So there is still a surround effect.:D -
Agreed Scottvamp, the more I listen to it the more I like it. Listened to several more selections today, not just live CD's. There's just something about being immersed in the music.

I think a huge reason for the big success of these "surround" sound, dvd-audio, s.a.c.d., etc. w/ CD's and music is the fact that many people have spent so much money for their surrounds and HT, they don't want their investments behind them to be quiet. They want to hear all their speakers working.....even their center channel (with 5 channel stereo). I love 2 channel w/ my CD's. If you have your mains set up right from your listening position, the music will envelop you directly and reflectively. When you go to concert, the only thing behind you is probably more fans screaming and cheering. I have messed around with my Receiver's DSP but it just doesn't cut....sounds hollow. Just my opinion.Home Speakers polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired), CSi30, FX3000i, PSW250
