Hi

For anyone that has research or knows? Does the rear center channel have that much sound coming out of them??, On a 7.1 system.

The reson for the question is that I have The Polk fx300i as my two rear center speakers, and contaplating on getting the FXi50 to replace the Fx300i, since the fx5001 has been discontinued.

Would appreciate some feedback and your thoughts and comments will also help.

Thanks:)

Ralph - You have a nice setup - Me and you have the same recievers and a 6.1 setup. You have a 6 channel setup and you can't answer you own question???? You would know better than anyone on the forum if your rear channel is justified. Upgrading to a fxi50 is NOT going to make that big of a difference. Your not going to gain any SPL over the fx300. If you use a calibration DVD and an spl meter your system should be fine. IMO

    Good point Mx!!!!!!!
Ralph - Another reason your rear speakers seem so weak is because direct radiating speakers are very recommended in a 6/7 channel setup. Me and Dr. Spec both use CS245's in the back.

thx slect and ultra 2 recomends a direct for the 6th-7th channels but thx ultra recomends a bi/di polar for the 6and 7th channels.
i have f/x 500 all the way around for my suround and it is good.
it would proabley depend on room size. i got my 500 cheap as a set of 35 so i went with them

Ralph, your question is hard to answer because it's not worded right. You're asking about a center channel for a rear, but then indicating that you're looking to accomplish a 7.1 setup. If you're using a center channel, you are running 6.1, and unless I'm mistaken, I don't think that you can accomplish 7.1 and have a single rear surround.

Scott, he's got a 7.1 setup already. He's just wanting to up the rears.

Do you not like the quality of the sound that you're getting from your FX300i's Ralph? If you feel that the sound you're getting from the 30's isn't up to par with your other surrounds, and you like what you're getting out of your 500i's, then yes, do the upgrade. There's not THAT much of a difference between the 300i and the 500i/i50 speakers. I think that you'll notice a moderate improvement. To test, why don't you switch the locations of your 500i's and your 300i's and see if you like the sound coming out of the rear surrounds on movies where you have thought it could be improved........
    comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

    Hi Bret & Gang

I just got done switching the speakers and as you stated, their was not that much of a difference to warrant an upgrade.

    Thanks for your responses.
