Ok, I just bought a new router, Linksys WRT610N, that I've setup connected to my cable modem.

My old router, Linksys WRT54G, I just loaded the tomato firmware on and I'd like to use it to connect a wired ethernet device in another room to my wireless network.

Do I want to use the "Wireless Client" or "Wireless Ethernet Bridge" mode on the WRT54G? What's the difference?

Just the client. The bridge would be to use 1 computer to give internet to another one.

Ok, I assume I use the 1-4 ethernet ports and not the internet/WAN port for connectivity on the WRT54G to the ethernet device, right?

Also, does the WRT54G have DHCP server enabled? Or is that all done by the WRT610N?

I would imagine if you bridged it you could use the dhcp server of the other router. I am not familiar with tomato though.. do they have a support forum????

probably. There's a bunch of firmwares available for the router that all seem to offer the same thing. My questions aren't really specific to that firmware though, I'm just clueless about wireless networking in general.

Another possible mode is Wireless Ethernet Bridge mode. This allows it to connect to another gateway router while still keeping all computers connected to both routers in the same subnet. Note: If the router is used as a wireless client or Wireless Ethernet Bridge, it cannot be used as an access point at the same time. (Note: As of 1.19 - Wireless Bridge must be set to WPA)

If it were me i would bridge it to the other router

there is a whole wiki for tomato..

hmmm... I'll have to give the bridge mode a try then. I only had a few minutes to mess with them over lunch, I tried the Wireless Client mode with no success but didn't really have time to troubleshoot. Thanks.
