Car GPS recommendations

Leaving in about an hour for a business trip for a few days, and wanted to see if anyone had any good input regarding car gps systems. I'm pondering the Garmin nuvi 205, as it seems like it would do well enough for the price, but I wanted to see if any experienced users had any additional input in regards to units they've really enjoyed or I should really avoid.

Thanks.

I love my TomTom ONE-3rd edition.

Got it a year or so ago, and it's still getting me to where I wanna be easily.

I bought a Nuvi 760 for my wife at Christmas. I have been very impressed with it. Very quick navigation. It recalculates very quickly. It also has a detour feature and multiple stops which is a great feature. The street voice also really helps, especially when you are driving in a busy city and often can't see the street signs. The 750 and 760 are nearly identical and I'd recommend either. The 760 as the traffic service, which may or man not be useful to you.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I've had both Garmin and TomTom at the same time...Garmin is much user friendly but with TomTom, you can do update on the map via connecting to a computer with USB.

eventually gave the TomTom one Third edition to sister-in-law....we ended up keeping the Garmin nuvi 200....my wife also likes the Garmin better after using TomTom for about 6 months...

I use my laptop running microsoft streets and trips. I know its not practical for daily use but for trips I love it. Nice big bright screen, maps are always up to date, recalculates very fast, very natural sounding voice pleasing to the ear doesnt sound like a computer, very good at pronouncing hard words. paid $60 and it uses usb for the antenna which is very small.

I have two Garmens. An earlier Streetpilot 550 for myself and a NUVI 265 for my wife. The 265 rocks!!!! It is exactly right. The Nuvi's thin form factor makes it easy to pack into carry on luggage (beat the $10/day rental from a car rental agency), voice announcement of approaching street names where you have to turn, etc.

I love my Tom Tom One, I have also liked the Garmin I got for use with a rental car.

I prefer the voices on the Tom Tom compared to the Garmin's but other then that they both work quite well.

I say go for the best price you can find.

Love my Garmin Nuvi. However, don't like the fact that it cost $70 to update my map after 1 year.

You can regularly find tt 3rd editions for under $100 and they work sufficiently ... stick to garmin, tomtom, and maybe magellan and you will be all good
