Are you saying in the top ten?

    If not Honda number 1 & 2

    Honda Civic (1995)
    Honda Accord (1991)
    Toyota Camry (1989)
    Ford F-150 (1997)
    Chevrolet C/K 1500 (1994)
    Acura Integra (1994)
    Dodge Ram Pickup (2004)
    Nissan Sentra (1994)
    Toyota Pickup (1988)
    Toyota Corolla (2007)

I believe the Civic is number 1 up here as well.

    Steve,

If you Google the "Most Stolen Cars', depending on the insurance company and when the study was done, the numbers vary. But you are right Honda and Toyota economy numbers lead the pack. My wife lost two Honda Accords, we'll never own another. My sister in law just lost her Honda Pilot. Like I said, buy an invisible car with stellar JD Power ratings. Buick is one of those cars year after year. So is Lexus, Jaguar, certain models of Cadillac, Ford trucks, etc. But they are always leading the stats for top stolen cars. The Buick is the least stolen. Thieves don't like the style, and they don't sell very well in Mexico and other banana republics where stolen autos are resold.

I've owned Buicks for 15 years, I leave the doors unlocked, CDs all over the seats. Nobody looks twice at these cars.

I agree that this is a very important consideration but I think it might be more of an issue in a large Metropolitan area.I live in a rural area and car theft is not a big problem here, atleast not yet.I have inquired about insurance rates and they are surprisingly not that much more than my 00 Dodge Intrepid.

The stats on the most stolen cars reflect the respective numbers on the road to a certain degree, so the most popular vehicles also are the most stolen due to the sheer numbers of them on the road. Since there are a lot of them on the road, fencing also becomes easier, so it is a cycle that prolongs itself. I'd like to see those numbers when percentages are analyzed instead of volume.

I've had Plymouth, Dodge, VW, Ford, Chevy, and MG as well as Toyota. When it comes to cost of operation and ownership, including insurance, the Toyota wins out every time. We bought a Toyota Sienna minivan to replace our Plymouth Voyager, and our insurance went down by 50% immediately.

The Toyota will feel the same when driving it at 100,000 as it does when new. None of the other makes that I have owned fall into that category.

I'm not claiming that my experience is universal, but if you look around at the nameplates in the parking lot, you'll find that a lot of others must agree with me.

All that I'm saying is that the people who keep track of what's stolen across America (and numbers play a part in that because they are popular) say that your Honda or Toyota has a much higher probability of being stolen that your Buick. Remember, you will lose real money out of your pocket (the difference between the book value and what you owe) if your car is stolen. I view the objective evidence as an important factor when deciding what car to buy. All cars, not matter what brand, depreciate and are an investment loss. Higher insurance rates because of a high risk factor for theft, money remaining on your bank note and the cost of getting a new car, plates, taxes, fees, etc. are all part of buying a car. I prefer to have one that is a low probability for theft, and a high customer satisfaction rating from an agency like JD Powers or others out there. If you want to own a Honda, Toyota, or Ford Truck in New York, Chicago, Boston, LA, San Francisco, Miami, Houston or other high crime areas. Be my guest. Good chance some meth addict will steal your car for a couple of hits of **** juice.

If you own a Ferrari in bum wipe, Oklahoma, more power to 'ya.

Pardon me, but I've got to put the battery charger on my AMC Pacer.:D;)

Oh yes, I did replace my struts....the fronts @ about 86,000 miles and the rears after 100,000 miles. These did cost several hundred dollars installed, but they carried a lifetime warranty.

Also, I purchased a lifetime wheel alignment contract for my Camry from Firestone for about $150.00....entitles me to 2 four-wheel alignments each year for as long as I own the car. Unfortunately, I purchased the contract about a year before I sold my Camry :(

Alternatively, I guess I could go to a GM or Chrysler dealer and ask for credit for the tax money I've already given to their respective companies to be applied to an automobile purchase.

Ditto that. Nice rims as well and the sunroof is a nice option as well. Looks like the previous owner took care of the vehicle very well.

    Congrats!
