Harman Kardon AVR-635

Up for sale is my Harman Kardon AVR-635. This has been a fantastic AVR and is a powerhouse if you are not ready to make the jump into external amplification. I upgraded to an AVR-247 because I needed HDMI and didn't need the huge amp section of the 635.

I'm selling for $300 + shipping cost

AVR will be shipped in original box, which is very well padded and constructed. Shipping weight is 47lb.

I bought this unit as a refurb 3 years ago and the only problem I've ever had was the memory capacitor that provides power for all of the settings memory went bad and was replaced in the summer of 2008.

The remote was hardly used because I have a Harmony remote. In picture 008 you can see a little damage to the corner of the AVR faceplate. This was how the unit arrived as a refurb. There is no visible damage from the front and the unit looks brand new other than the mentioned scratch. It lived in my built-in audio rack with plenty of ventilation it's whole life in my house.

Link to the owner's manual... http://manuals.harman.com/HK/HOM/Owner%27s%20Manual/AVR%20635%20VII%20OM(10-14-05).pdf

Brief Specs..

2-channel power = 90wpc
7 channel surround power = 75 wpc
Huge current capacity (which is why it weighs 47 lb)

All of the specs are on page 55 of the owners manual. If you aren't familiar with H/K, don't be fooled by the 75wpc. These are very strong, Harman Kardon watts per channel.

Sorry about threadjacking... how much improvement would this receiver be over my AVR 520 (if I don't care about 7.1 vs. 5.1)? Thanks!

The specs for the 520 seem pretty similar. I'm not sure you would gain much..... What am I thinking... I mean... Buy my AVR... Everybody knows that AVR's with silver faceplates sound better.

Seriously though... I don't know if you would gain much. I know they did make big improvements in the EaseSet/EQ if you are concerned about room correction and all the channels being balanced. Some won't agree with me, but I was always happy with the auto configuration of the 635... I would let the setup run and the boost the sub by 3db and all was well.

I'm a little surprised knowbody has jumped on this yet. Pretty rock solid AVR for $300.

Aaron-I forgot to tell you, my parents are going to pass on this. They still need a new AVR to replace the one that crapped out on them, but they want one with HDMI, because they're planning on picking up a Blu-ray player eventually.

Looks like you've got some interest on it now, so good luck with the sale.:)
