This is sickening. The big Chicken Little that started this thread should be proud. A quick look at some of the responses shows just what is seething and boiling right under the surface in this place. Attempts to get racial? Nice. Absolutely disgusting and pathetic. Supposedly grown men.

Actually, a bow can symbolize subserviance OR respect. Being someone from a different nation/system/religion etc. I don't get how people can say or imply that Obama was doing anything besides trying to show an appropriate respect for a leader, with/or without full knowledge of proper protocol of thier culture. Be realistic.

I guess you could call that taking something to the limit. On the flipside: a leader bowed to a leader. I guess the implications can lie anywhere between the two depending on how realistic you want to be.

As mentioned earlier, the over-exaggerations of this 'symbolism' and the 'assured' soon-to-be effects definately provide a great deal of entertainment. Thanks for the contribution!

Can we add a simple question for people that want to join our forum?

    The question would be:

    Are you stupid?

I definitely agree that King Abdullah should have returned the bow. I hadn't even considered that before. As others have said, respect is a two way street.

Unfortunately, respect is also something that's earned, not just given. Obama is still the new guy on the block, perhaps at their next meeting the bow will be returned.

Foreign relations is part of the job of the President...showing respect to another leader is a great way to promote and encourage these foreign relations. I still don't agree that this showed subservience...or especially "surrender". I don't think we're going to be under Muslim control now simply because Obama bowed to Abdullah.

I guess I'm just blind...because I fail to see what possible repercussions this bow could have on our country.

Thanks to his years of Muslim schooling as a child in Indonesia (from 1967-1971 he lived there with his mother and Indonesian step father, who was like his Kenyan sire, of the Islamic faith), Obama is certainly aware of and sensitive to the special religious status and legitimacy claimed by the Saudi Monarch "as guardian of Mecca and Medina, the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and of the Islamic faith." While we citizens of the American republic mull over the possible insult to the sovereignty and republican mores of the people Obama is supposed to represent, his gesture of religious fealty sends an unmistakable message to Muslim millions around the world. Could it be the proverbial wink that a con artist uses to communicate his real identity to those who are in on the sting? Just another episode that, taken by itself, may mean nothing. But in the context of all we know, and ominously don't know, about the background and policies of the present occupant of the White House, it is as Arsenio Hall used to say, one of those "things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm."

Obama's deep lowly bow to the Muslim King was one of a subservient Sunni subject. Protocol does not require any bow, no other US president ever bowed to this king. The majority of Muslims in North Africa (Darfur) are Sunni Muslims as was B.O.'s Kenyan father. Notice the Saudi King did not return the bow, this was not mutual. The correct protocol with the Saudi King would have been to mutually kiss both cheeks and briefly grasp (shake) both hands as equals

The first paragraph is a quote comes from Alan Keyes, a former ambasador under Ronald Reagan, I forget to which country. The second comes from ana anonymous blogger on a different forum, however both are spot on in what this symbolism represents. To the terrorists that attacked us on sept 11th, it would appear we just surrendered...
Great paragraphs you found there; agreed.
..... you know ..... I think I've used up an entire year's supply of snide and cynicism in one stellar post.
I think I'd likely be inclined to agree...if I could find this so called 'stellar' post...

I was going to let this go, but cannot. Are you saying that because people do not believe as you, they should not be allowed to have families? That is an arrogant position to take. Just because I or anyone else does not share your socialist/coommunist view is no reason to insult them or their inteligence. It has been said that being a conservative is the toughest descision to make because it requires an individual to become educated about the issues and think. Once you have reached your own conclusions, it then requires action on those beliefs so as to affect change. It also requires COURAGE to stand by and defend your positions against the inevitable slurs, derogatory comments and general nastiness that comes your way. To be a liberal means simply that you see a problem and find ways to throw money(always someone elses) and say you solved it. The insidious part of this is when their ideas fail as they usually do, they say well we tried and could do better with even MORE of other peoples money. And when a conservative stands up and says enough, a liberal will then point a finger and say "see that, they dont care, they are racist/biggots/anti whatever and therefore should not be trusted, and call US fools....

Call me what you like, I don't care. I have not implyed anything racist with my posts or quotes from others... in fact Alan Keyes IS black and happens to be one of the most eloquent speakers on the merits of conservative belief. There are no religious attacks here either, quite the opposite again. My wife is persian/muslim and I am very sensitive to such things. Before you call people a fool it is best to look in the mirror, lest you find it is you that looks foolish.

My difference with Obama is nothing more or less than I dissagree with most of his policies. I do not believe him to be the antichrist, far from it. I would love to meet the man and congratulate him for his achievement and his exceptional skills as a statesman, maybe have a beer or two. That said we just have a differing view on policy. An example of stimulus? give all the ability to go to college on the gov's dime rather than waste money on the useless crap they spent 1.7 trillion on in the porculus bills. Let free market capitalism loose and create jobs the old fashioned way rather than loose jobs to foreign countries due to excessive taxes and regulation... I want Obama to be the most successful president in history, and I want to see most of what he has proposed so far to fail...

... and I don't care about being on your little ignore list either. All you seem to do is whine like a child when somebody does not share your views... grow a pair!

Educated? Think? Not all liberals are as you call them socialist/communists. Is it informed and educated say things like to be a liberal is "simply" to find ways to throw money and say you solved it? That's like me saying being a conservative is hanging a rebel flag and gun rack in the truck and go find a war to wage some place. Come on. Hello George,

Thanks for naming me Big Chicken Little! I need to straighten out a few things with you first.

    1. I did not post the Stupidest Thread Ever to be proud. I have no political Agenda whatsoever and I am color natural. I was reading news on Yahoo on the other day and the I found that in the local news. I didn't believe it at first to read the headline news. So, I read the whole news (it was rather a short new with the link to YouTube). So, I clicked the link and saw the exact video I posted in this thread. Of coz, the piece of news was removed from local news half and hour later. I looked through the world news and other feature news and I couldn't find one.

    2. About my reaction to this piece of news is already posted in Post 1 and Post 6.
I am shocked and surprised to read the headline to be truthful. I mean do the media ever need to put that in the news to tease the readers? And it happened during G-20 meeting and so it's not doubt there are several news agency around the world was at the summit. Like I said, it's no complain and not definitely political post. I have no political agenda posting the video. I also said in Post 6 "No Complain but it added a little blue to the mood since I've heard the tragic news about the massacre in NY shooting". It's just that I am a caring person about the world around me and many people here are either do not care or have political agenda or just to make things worse by playing the head games. I do not play the head games and I have straight honest answers so if anyone wants to play head games, do it in your backyard and remove me from your list. I have far more useful things to do than playing head games.

    3. I agree with you this is becoming the STUPIDEST THREAD ever coz many people starts saying things in defense to their political believe or to pursue their political agenda. This is not my intent in posting the video. My intent was to share what I've seen and read. And I think you folks will at least be surprised.

    4. Those of you who have political agenda beyond the facts, you need to know Saudi is one of our close alley and Saudi has given supports to U.S. I do not at all think President Obama in the video has shown any kind of weakness other than exchanging the courtesy. But I think the rest of the world has seen it or read it so they'll have their own opinions like some people do here. This is what I meant by "asking myself when do our leaders start doing things like that".

    5. This thread does not and should not go further than informational so I am even more surprised to learn about the defensive or offensive nature of posts I have read so far. But this STUPID thread should stop here nonetheless.

    6. You seems to have beef with John for whatever reason (I don't know) but I suggest you do it in private and not in every threads you seems fitting.

This is my last post for this thread as I would rather drink Sake and listen to tunes and stay in the media darkness than making anymore stupid posts. :)

Edit : Sorry! This is my 2nd Last Post and I wanted to make a proper reply to another post after this in a proper way.

Why don't you newbs take your political crap to a whole other website?

Bottom line rocket scientists, WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO DISCUSS POLITICS HERE.

How do you ever expect anyone to give you any intellectual cred whatsoever, when you can't grasp a simple concept like NO POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS?

Two fools, both enjoying the luxury of Ignore.

I resent anyone infering that George Grand is a Commie/Socialist as it is a lowlife cheap shot with absolutely zero merit.Mr Grand is a patriot and a veteran who has served our country in both times of war and peace and he as much as anyone here deserves
the right to be shown respect on this forum.thanks....WCW III
