Beneficial or detrimental?

Lose the feature or make the poster accountable?

Put a name on the tag. Too many **** are posting crap and hiding. Tags can be a great asset here.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

+1, should not be able to hide from your post/tag

    beneficial

Why not make it such that the OP is the only one that can make a tag and others can request the OP to add/update/remove a tag. Just a thought

It's not like it's helping the search feature work better as it currently is. I suppose if they weren't anonymous, it'd deter people from posting stupid ones... but then... bah, I dunno.
    Ludicrous gibs!

You should only be able to submit a tag if you have posted in the thread, and the tags should track back to a poster (not a poser as is so common now!).

I like it the way it is and I do NOT want them to disappear. They are very helpful in searches when used wisely. I must have over 300 tags or more since its introduction. I do have a few tags that are idiot related as opposed to audio related but those probably only make up 5% of the tags I have input. Y'all can thank me later for contributing to the audio side of tagging. ;)

You can always report an inappropriate tag to the mods and if they choose to change it or delete it..........

Most of the tags I've seen lately are immature and really don't fit what I associate with CP.

If they continue to be abused with innanity and profanity - loose 'em.

I'll say that this place is one of the few shining examples of why the internet should be allowed outside of the military and education sectors. I've made some great friends here.

The tags do serve a good purpose, they've helped me numerous times while searching for various things.

There definitely has been a rash of ridiculous immature tags on a lot of threads though recently. There are already some stupid ones on this thread for that matter.

I say take away the anonymity of them and make it so everybody can see who posted what tags. As others have said, if everyone could see who posted what tags, a lot of these stupid ones would probably be disappearing.

edit-Wow, look at that. There are now 4 more stupid tags here that have showed up in the last 12 minutes.

Could definitely be an extremely useful search tool, including those terms that don't work very well with the normal search feature. We need to be able to simply remove the foolish ones easily somehow IMO, as well as those that bump themselves to the start of the list by using certain characters such as hyphens ... JMO.

Try clicking on a meaningful audio term tag and see all the results that instantly pop up. It's pretty cool, actually, IMO. The foolish tags serve no purpose except to annoy anonymously.

I say keep em. Most threads arent tagged at all and of the few that are most of them are useful to the original tagger. Only a very small percentage of a very small percentage are useless tags. Sometimes I will tag a thread so I can find it later easily. Most likely the ones that have been abusing the tagging privelege will in a few months have moved on to annoy others someplace else, but hopefully the tags will remain, it would be a shame to lose this tool over a few idiots. I say ignore em and they will go away faster.

The funny thing is I believe that "some" of the people complaining about tagging have in fact made snide tags themselves at some point. :D If you were to look at some of the tags associated with CL's threads you would see what I mean, of course he was pretty universally hated and certainly deserved some of the tags but im sure the people that are tagging inappropiately now feel the same way that most did about CL then whether it's deserved or not.

And besides who when doing a search is going to type in douchebag or some similar thing? these will be buried in a few weeks and the useful tags like SDA or SRT etc will still be here to be used by all who really need them.

    REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
