genesis g6.1 bogen gs 35

I have a genesis g6.1 system (http://www.genesismedialabs.com/hometheater61.html) with the subwoofer hooked up to a bogen gs35 and the input split to another amp for the speakers. the subs are dual voice coil and i have the input bridged to both coils. My question is how long is my bogen gs35 going to last, it gets EXTREMELY hot and often cuts itself off, has a recent switch in the back and i believe it cuts off from temp. often though it gets hot enough to fry an egg on top of it, very quickly, and wont shut itself down. you cant touch it for half a second in certain spots. no distortion or anything like that. is it too hot? should i look into another amp? i wouldnt want one w/o a 10band or better eq and theyre quite expensive/hard to find because i don't know what to call it.. (i got the bogen gs 35 for $40)
