what do you think about the new Polk Monitor 60?
I haven't heard anything new, just wondering if you have and what you guys think about them. Better than RT400? How's the tweeter?

I guess what I thought were "new" monitor 60 speakers have already been discontinued. I saw them on ebay for around $430, just wondered what the forum thinks about them. Thanks -
I have some monitor 50s and I love them. The monitor 60s have another woofer in them so I can only imagine that I would love them also. I bet on polks ebay store you could get them refurbished for 200 or so. (just as good)HOME AUDIO:

I don't think i would pay over $400 for them because you could probably find a pair of RTi10's for about that price, but if you can get them for under $250 or so then they should be great.KEF Q150 | Rythmik F12 | Yamaha Aventage RX-A780

I have Monitor 50s and cnh has Monitor 70s. We both recommend the 60s; preferably with a Cs2 center.

Why the 60s over the 70s?
I love my Monitor 70s... -
I have the Monitor 70's as well and am very pleased by their performance. Kinda hard to come by these days. If you can get your hands on the 70's for a decent price I would say grab them, if not then the 60's will do just nicely as well. If you want alternatives check out the TSi line, they are the "replacements" to the Monitor series. TSi 400's are the 60's equivilant.HT Rig

As Mike21 points out, I do have a pair of M70s and they sound quite good on an Onkyo IMO. The debate Mike is referring to is one we had a while back regarding imaging, whether or not the smaller driver compliment in the M60s might make for better 'imaging' than the M70s not that the M60s put out more sound than the 70s because they don't. And the jury is still out on the imaging question as well.
I also have a pair of TSI-300s and they're very good in their price range. The TSI-500s though would put out a WALL of sound, probably very much like the M70s. Personally I prefer my M70s to the Rti-A5s. But that's subjective, I find the Rti tweeters too bright on my equipment, the Rti-A9s though (top of the line) are a bit more tame there.

I auditioned both the Monitor 50's and 60's back when I was looking for speakers. The Monitor line is very laid back compared to the RTi line. Probably better for a musical application than theater in my opinion. They do sound good and are good entry level speakers. If you can get them from Polk Direct for about $200 to $250, go for it and you'll be pleased. If you're paying $400 for Monitors, I'd say no and go for RTi A5's which are superior and can be found at Polk Direct for $379/pair.

i'm thinking about getting a set of monitor 70's....i have m 50's now......would my onkyo 606 a/v be adequate power for them? -
Monitor series are very easy to drive. 606 shud be sufft to drive 70s, just like it is driving 50s for u now..

thanks for the quick reply vijayl,..that is good info to know.....i think i'll order them -
+1 on the 606 powering the 70's, however keep in mind that the 606 has no pre-outs for adding an external amp down the road. The 70's will work fine without external amplification, but will come to life with a decent amp running them, which is where I am at now with my 70's and my 806.HT Rig

Since I sold my Onkyo 805 today, I'm driving my RTi8s with 506 and it sounds good. Doesn't sound as good as 805. So it shud be ease for 606 to drive 70s..

I agree, I've run my M70s on an Onkyo 605 and an 805 and the 605 has enough power to deal with them, but they sound like a different speaker with the 805 and I can't wait to listen to them on my Adcom GFA-555? These speakers are very efficient but they can take almost as much power as most of the mid-level Rti-A tower series. They're also a bit more laid back than most of the Rti line, except for the 9s which blow them away on bass, etc.
M70s are a decent stereo speaker, not as in your face with movies as the Rtis. I prefer the less forward sound except for the Rti-A9s which are a much fuller better all around speaker with prodigious sound output. But they're almost twice as much in cost?
