Yeah, you can get a splendid price on it because a BIC sub is a basically a big pile of ****.

You may be better off spending your hard-earned money on a ShamWow.

I have two Acoustech (bic america) h-100 subs on my h-t set up and they sound great! also sound great for music too, sure not as good as subs costing 1000's of dollars, but they did sound better than the two Klipsch RW-12's I had before them IMO.

BIC subs sound much better for music than they do for movies, what are you using it for? I have never been impressed with the way they sound though. I am personally partial to Velodyne but I have been out of the game for awhile.

I think the Acoustech (bic america) h-100 was considered a very good bargain, the V1220 was not considered as good a bargain. But still a pretty cheap sub with performance equal to it's cost. It boils down to what you have to spend or willing to spend. You would probably be better off increasing your sub budget, even if it means waiting and saving, to get a better sub (even used) so you only need to buy a sub once.

What price can you get it for? I guess if it is really a good deal give it a try, only you will be able to tell if it does the trick for you.

Ive got the H-100 and am very pleased with it yes there are more expensive subs out
there but just how much output do you really need? It is hard to get any decent sub
    in the $ <300 range.

The H-100 was designed by Dr. Hsu and for a budget sub, it's pretty darned good. The other Bic models should be avoided. Supposedly the PA-120 (Premier Acoustics) is an improved H-100 or a clone for about the same $$$. Still, after going through a couple of years of sub upgrades a few years ago, budget subs don't cut it for very long. Save some money and get a decent sub...some money = ~ $500.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

2 H-100's sound real good for HT and music. Paid less than 500 for both, now they dont sound as good as the Sunfire I used to have but that was over $1000.

I have tried the Acoustech H100 for a while. I think it is a truly excellent, bargain first subwoofer for HT. I would definitely not recommend it for music whatsoever, any more, but this may depend on what kind of music you listen to. It lacks precision for music IMO.

If you want to know what the LFE channel in an effective 5.1 setup should be like, for explosions and special effects (sonic bursts, wave weapons, throaty roar from cars etc.), and if you just cannot convince yourself to spend $500 or more on a subwoofer in the near future, then the H100 will get you there IMO, and very convincingly so. I loved it for as long as I had it.

I have no knowledge of the newer models from BIC.
    Alea jacta est!
