^^ I second what he said.

Although your chances of finding RTi12's and expecially FXi5's are essentially just about 0, but the others pop up on ebay pretty often, especially the RTi4/6/8 and sometimes 10.

I was just about to post the exact same question. lol They seem hard to find. I did manage to find 1 new rti12 cherry for 349 but have not bought it yet since I need 2 and what are the chances of finding just 1 more.

FYI Just looked on amazon and there are 3 rti8's for 119 + 65 shipping

There were 2 pair of RTi12's on ebay recently, one pair used in cherry, the other refurbished from polk, both sold at pretty low prices (like $600/pair + shipping), but i've had my eyes peeled for a few months and those are the only ones i remember popping up.

I got incredibly lucky. I was actually looking for a used receiver on my local cl and came across 2xRTi12s and a CSi5. Drove about an hour and a half one-way but got the set for 500 even. They are soooooo much better than my 6.1 set up and I still don't have surrounds or a sub yet!

Oh and I originally only wanted the 12s and he was going to sell them for 450 but I offered him 500 for all three and he accepted. Alright I won't rub it in any more.

OP - I think cragslist and audiogon are your best bets.

Yah polk sells those. For my RTi10s it was $20 shipped for 4 outriggers and 8 'spikes.'

I'm still kicking myself for being too late to get in on the Fry's clearance deals for the older RTi12s. They have RTi12s in black for $60 each and RTi12s in cherry for $100 each.

I'm assuming you meant "They had"? That is an incredible deal though. Regarding some of the speakers I should have mentioned I'm looking for the black ones to match my existing set. So the rti12s on ebay and rti8 at frys won't work. the cheaper rti8s on amazon for 119 also are in rough shape if you read the description.

I do have something else I'd like some input on:

Hypothetically let's say I had the RTi12s, RTi10s, CSi5, FXi3s, FXi5s, RTi6s, and sub. I will be taking one pair of speakers and using them upstairs so the wife can listen to music. I currently have (out of the above) the RTi10s, CSi5, FXi5s, and RTi6s, so would be looking for the others based on answers posted back to the following question. Which speakers would you choose and where would you place the speakers? I right now have a Denon 3808CI at 130/channel. I'm a bit concerned it may not be able to push the RTi12s enough, although the RTi10s sound pretty good when I listen to music and home theater.

The speakers placed upstairs will be powered by the same Denon 3808CI hooked up with the multi-room feature. I'm not sure if that means they can output the same 130/channel though.

Here is also a reference guide from THX of how to place the speakers. Kind of weird how they recommend placing the rear surrounds. I was thinking even if the RTi10s were placed in back, that the adyssey calibration included with the Denon 3808 would make use of them accordingly.

I also want to mention the denon allows for the surrounds to be split and offers the ability for two pairs of surrounds (A & B). So that's a total of 6 speakers for surrounds. I'm not sure if splitting them splits the 130/channel to 65/channel though.

Nevertheless, I could utilize a total of 2 more speakers considering this. I wanted to throw this in to the mix for those looking to help me to consider.

    Let the recommendations come! :)

    -Thanks for all the feedback

How would the RTi A3 speakers compare to the RTi6 speakers? They look identical. I'm looking for decent bookshelf speakers for a desktop sound system to go with my Parasound Zamp v.3 which is controlled by my Zpre2 preamp.

The Zamp puts out 45 watts per channel. Would that be sufficient to drive the RTi A3's and am I correct in thinking the A3's are similar to the RTi6's?

The A3's are the newer version of the RTi6's. They're essentially the same speaker, but use a different cabinet geometry. The RTi6's are a traditional squared cabinet and the A3's use a curved cabinet. This is supposed to make them more acoustically inert...I've never compared the old and new RTi's side by side though, so I can't attest to the difference in sound.

A lot of people have reported a slight improvement in sound though. I think the curved cabinets look better personally.

45 watts would be sufficient. The A3's are pretty easy to drive speakers.

Thanks for the detailed info, Curt. I didn't realize how large they are! 15" tall aint bad but they're also 14" deep! That seems quite large for desktop speakers. I seem to gravitate toward large things, go figure. :p

Yeah, they are pretty big. It's kind of deceiving when you're just looking at the pictures of them. I remember when I first saw a pair of A3's at my local Polk dealer I did a double take...lol...They're a lot bigger than you'd think from the pictures.

I'm not sure how well the A3's would do as computer speakers though. Some speakers aren't really recommended for near field listening...perhaps someone else has tried it and can chime in on it.

you can get rti10's and rti150's both in cherry on ebay right now. The rti150's end in a few hours but are only at 399 plus about 120 shipping. I know because I asked the seller. The rti 10's are only 250 plus 99 for shipping. Both look to be good deals to me atleast. I may bid on these. I DO NOT KNOW the sellers. Im just trying to help out the guys looking for these series of speakers.
