Dumb wiring question

I ran about 33 ft of 12 gauge blue jeans wire from receiver to wall plates. Is it possible to run say 14 gauge from plate to speaker which is about 1.5 ft. Or, should I stick to 12 gauge from the plate to the speaker. Unforunately i do not have any more wire left over, but i have some M@#$ter C@ble which i believe is only 14 gauge. Oh, i have lsi 9's connected to a carver tfm42.

Flash, the question isn't dumb at all, but there's a fairly common misconception that connecting a short length of wire that's thinner and therefore has higher resistance will somehow become the limiting factor for the entire length of the run. This isn't the case and it isn't analogous in any way to a four lane highway suddenly narrowing to an eight foot wide dirt road. The resistance of the total length of the run is what counts, and for example in your case 33 feet of 12 gauge connected to 1.5 feet of 14 gauge might be equivalent in resistance to 34.5 feet of 12.1 gauge, a negligible difference. So, the 14 gauge wire at the end(or even 18 gauge for that matter)is no problem.
