Greetings All. I recently bought my first PA speakers and am looking to pair them with some surrounds. I was looking for some used RTi4s so they matched but only managed to find one pair online (225 shipped). Do you think it is a good idea to get those or somethings else? Thanks

Wayne

Depending on how much you want to spend on a amp I have a
Rotel rmb-1075 5 channel amp that'll sound great with your setup.

I think I agree. I also think it is out of my price range! What are you selling it for? I am thinking about a 2 channel for the fronts for now.

Welcome to the Polk Forum Intel. For your surounds, I see that you can get a new pair of black RTi6 bookshelves from Audio Depot through Amazon. Thay are asking about $380 including shipping.

Polk Direct has the FXi3 in white. You can probably get them for a good price. They also have the FXiA6 available in black or white at a fixed buy it now price of $389 including shipping.

rgr thanks. I made an offer on the RTi4s so I will see where that goes. If I can get those for 150 I will have plenty more to spend on an amp. I like how the 12s sound right now (I still haven't set them up properly) but I just keep reading how they need to be pushed hard to really show their worth.

Most quality speakers improve with more available power.
The RTi12 especially so. I even found that with the Monitor 70's improved a lot with the ICE amps on the Pio. SC-07.

Mantis put me on to the Rotel amps. The RB-1572 stereo amp makes a nice cool running 250W per channel at 8 ohms. They would be perfect for a pair of RTi12's.

yeah I bet, but what's the damage on that?

Well I don't think that is an option at the moment. I've been on a god-damn shopping spree of late (Tv, AVR, fronts, PS3) and still need my rears and probably a sub.

Did you also pick up a CSi5 center? They are still available on Polk Direct for a very good price. If you haven't, I recommend getting one before they are gone. You can always add the surrounds later. OneCall still has the PSW505 sub on for $325 including shipping. I have this one myself and it is a pretty good sub at a decent price.

I want to wait on the sub. I am sure that I will want one eventually but I have read that if you set up the 12s the right way you may not need one. I find it a little hard to believe but who knows. I'm not all that into shaking my house down anyway. Even an 8" would probably satisfy my ears.

I saw the monoblocks. That looks reasonable for my needs. But I still need surrounds!

I have offered the seller 140 +25 shipping for the pair (RTi4s). Does that sound about right? Or.... Should I take his offer at 155 +25 shipping?

Well I don't want to say I am getting frustrated but I am. I found 4 or 5 pairs of RTi4s but they all fell through.

Would a pair of Monitor 30s hold me over until I could find a pair? Is it worth it, or am I just going to be left wanting more?

On a budget, a pair of Monitor 30's will get you by for surrounds. I noticed a pair of new RTi6's available through Amazon but they are going for about $380 a pair incl. shipping and probably a lot more than what you want to pay.
RTi8's are available from time to time. They make great surrounds for the RTi12 fronts.

Thanks for the response. I have located a pair of RTi6s and if everything goes my way I will get those today. Wish me luck! If not, I'll go with the budget Monitor 30s and used the extra scratch on power.

I know. I'm not being patient. But, I'm not waiting any longer. I will get the budget speakers if I have to and then either dump them later or I can use them in a 7.1 system. Either way I think it works out alright.
