Another HT DVD for sound checking

This is a bit on the esoteric side, and will not be useful for the bassholes in HT, but tonight I finally unwrapped Letters from Iwo Jima (standard DVD), and started watching it. Throughout the movie the Japanese soldiers are complaining about the water. The first time it occurred an officer said it, and I thought I heard something like a stomach growl. Later, it became apparent that is what I did hear.
I have been thinking of doing some tweaking in the HT, primarily for better audio. While any fool can add more subs, my personal belief is being able to bring all the subtleties out of a DVDs audio is a better achievement. So, my tweaks are going to be centered on making the stomach growls in this movie more apparent. If that can be done then I expect a big improvement in the overall sound. Not that it is bad now, but everything can be improved.
Currently, I have a Sony DVP9100ES connected via Ilink (digital low jitter with HATS) to a Sony 7100ES AVR (used as a preamp) to a Sunfire TGA-5400, which then drives 4 LSi15s, LSiC, and a PSW1000 off the front pre-outs. The speakers are connected with 12 gauge hardware store stranded copper.
The tweaks I am considering are 2 maple speaker stands, speaker wire, and analog ICs from the preamp to the amp.
I will be going with Mapleshade since I added their 4 maple speaker platforms, speaker wire, and digital IC into my 2 channel setup, and was completely amazed at the overall improvement in sound. For passive components, it was like adding an active component into the mix.
