For Sale: Benchmark DAC1 (Black, rack mount front)*
I purchased this DAC new in March 2005 from Benchmark Media's website. Reviews are everywhere on this great DAC, so I won't bore you with audiophile banter. This is NOT the USB version.
The unit is in excellent 9/10 condition. There are no visable flaws. It is in a smoke-free, rug-rat free home. It will include everything from the factory, and you'll get your choice of either a Signal Cable 1mtr dig coax cable (RCA-RCA) or a DH Labs D-75 1mtr dig coax cable (RCA-BNC). Both are excellent, take your pick.
The unit has 3 digital inputs; Coaxial via BNC or RCA (adapter provided), AES-EBU on XLR, or Toslink. There are 2 outputs, unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR. The IEC power cord is removable/upgradable. The unit can be used in fixed output DAC mode, or in varible output DAC/preamp mode; selectable by a switch on the rear. It also includes Benchmarks excellent headphone section with 2 headphone jacks.
Money order only, CONUS only.
$675 shipped.
*NOTE: I cannot ship this unit before 6 April.
The attached pic was taken on: 3/27/2009. The price is firm and the DAC1 will be here for 1 week, then it's off to Audiogon. I have reviewed pricing on this at the 'gon, my price is extremely good, especially given its outstanding condition. The first commitment to buy gets it, I don't do "dibs" money talks and **** walks. Payments are a possibility with respected members, not a problem--PM me.
Why am I selling? To buy another Benchmark; this time the DAC1 PRE.
You will love this piece.

$650 shipped is a steal for one of these units. Never had the opportunity to get my ear on one of 'em, but I can certainly vouch for the value of a good DAC. A very underrated component in the audio food chain.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore
