Really a good movie.
The Blu-Ray is spectacular. Some demo quality scenes for audio on this one for sure. When Max is sailing into shore and the tree falling where very cool. PQ is top notch as well. I'd rate the audio and video 5/5.
It's not exactly a kids movie, either.
Worth the rental. -
I loved the movie and thought tony soprano guy did great on the voice over

I was bored stiff. Took my daughter to the theater to see it, she was 12 a the time and had read the book many times. She was bored too. Neither of us liked it.If...

I never pictured in my youthful mind's eye, that Max was ANYTHING like he was portrayed in the film. I was left feeling confused, disturbed and depressed by the movie. The book never did that to me.
I really wanted it to be great (the movie). And I felt is just wasn't.AVR: Denon X3200W

hmmm, sure about that?
I could give two rips what critics have to say, but among 2 of the major movie sites on the internet both critics and viewers alike give the movie high marks. I think it's 7.4/10 on IMDB at last glance and 75% Fresh at RT. That's well above average.
That aside, I believe a lot of people simply didn't get the movie because they had preconceived notions of what it was going to be going in. Such a raw look at growing up and really not at all unlike the book. In fact, the writer was very pleased with how the movie came out. It was not a kids movie. It was a movie for adults to get an honest look into the life of this particular kid without all the fluff.
People are left to draw their own interpretations from both works, and I say it was brilliant. I'm clearly not alone in that view, but I guess I am here.
Kind of surprised, too, given how great the PQ is and the demo quality SQ in several scenes. -
I will have to give it a rent now... I have never read the book, so it will all be fresh and new for me. Look forward to it.Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

I'll just say one thing...it's not an action/adventure flick as much as it's the story and correlation between the characters in Max's life and the characters in Max's mind.
Hope you like it. -
Max needs to be medicated in this movie. HEAVILY. It's kinda sad really. And no, nothing like the book.
I wonder what Freud would have had to say about this movie, the director and his mother...AVR: Denon X3200W

I fell asleep as well...then I woke up and watched the rest of it. I should have finished the nap instead.
Seriously...I don't get where all the accolades come from. Boring...not that innovative...definitely not a movie I would rate highly. Not terrible...just not that great IMO."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

gawwwwd ...... this ......... movie ....... ranked ........ right ..... up there ......... with ....... the boredom of ...... "The French Lieutenant's Woman" and ......... with the mind-numbing .......... depression ..... of ....... "Mrs. Doubtfire".
Barely made it through 20 minutes of Wild Things before hitting the "Eject" button and barely suppressing the compulsion to set the furniture on fire.
Other than that, it was one heck of a movie !!! :rolleyes:Sal Palooza
