bi-amping new RTI-6's

I recently picked up 4 RTI-6's that are replacing RTI-4's.
I also have changed to a Denon 1708 A\V which is capable of using the surround back channels to bi-amp the front channel 6's. This is a 75w\channel receiver.

Since this system is used for 99.9% home theater only (I have my tfm-45 and SDA-2b's in the same room, two channel only) do you all think that I would get substantial gains by bi-amping only the front channels??

What differences would I hear in home theatre?

TIA,

You probably wouldn't notice a difference with a speaker as small as the RTi-6 but it might be worth a shot. Having the receiver send a separate signal to the tweeter might improve separation a bit but who knows. Definately worth a shot. I bi-amped my RTi10's and to me they sound better, perhaps you can get same results with the 6's. The main reason i bi-amp is to increase maximum power availible to speakers. That wouldnt really be necessary with the 6's since the tweeter alone hardly takes any power.

I've had mine wired up for a few months, not sure how much difference it makes as I have done a direct comparision, but for the length of wire it'll take it can't hurt and I think it has improved the seperation and sound stage a little.

Not trying to jack the thread but I have a Yamaha RX-V861 and I am considering bi-amping my fronts RTIA5's. I was reading my reciever manual this morning and see the it can be done within my reciever. I take it willi that you did it this way, as you also have a yamaha reciever. I guess I'm wonderring if my A5's can be bi-amped and I'm also concerned with the speaker crossover. Do I set the reciever to send different frequecys to the speaker??

You don't really set anything on the crossover, doing it like this really isn't true bi-amping from what I have read. Really, all you're doing is using the extra set of terminals from the rear channel and sending it to your tweeters. I am assuming that there is some sort of crossover on the receiver when the bi-amp function is set in the setup menu. Just make sure that you follow the instruction manual wiring diagram to ensure your putting the right wires to the top and bottom posts on the speaker. The only crossover setting will still be just for your sub.

If I remember reading correctly, I think all we're doing by hooking them up this way is moving the jumper from the back of the speaker to the internal wiring of the receiver, which is why there's no real crossover setting for this type of connection and it's not a true bi-amp connection.

There isn't a crossover separation between the two pairs going to the speakers. The crossover points are taken care of within the speaker. The AVR is sending the exact same signal out of both the front channels and the surround back channels.

And just to add..... With my set up of 705 receiver with front RTi8's, the bi-amp option had made an audible difference and if your wife can hear the difference, trust me, its a difference:D
