Center Speaker Mount
My son has a CS245 center speaker that he wants to mount below his 50" plasma TV. His TV is mounted to the wall using an adjustable tilting/swiveling wall mount bracket and when pushed all the way in towards the wall the TV sticks out about 6" from the wall. Because of the stud location and his desire to center his plasma on the wall, he needs to have the TV about 10" from the wall when he adjusts his wall mount. We thought about a shelf, but are worried that the speaker will be behind the TV if it is on a shelf.
We decided to mount the CS245 on hits own swiveling wall mount and have ordered this:

Our minds could be changed, but we do like the idea of being able to adjust the center channel speaker. We just are not sure on the best way to attach the speaker to the mount. Should we just use screws to attach the vesa mount to the back of the speaker? If so, where exactly, should we try to attach it? Would this cause any problems sound-wise with the speaker by having screws in the back (I know asthetically, it proabably isn't the best, but this is a used $50 speaker that my son will most likely never try to sell to anyone else).
If it could cause sound problems, the other idea we had was to attach the vesa mount to a piece of wood with the approximate dimensions of the CS245 to build a "wall" and then attach L-brackets or maybe the BT15 to the wood and thus make a shelf that could easily be adjusted. http://www.jr.com/bt15-center-channel-speaker-bracket/pe/BTH_BT15_hy_BK/
We would prefer the first option since the speaker would be more secure and we wouldn't need to buy any more hardware to build a shelf. Please respond if you think either of these is a bad idea and if you have a better solution.
thanks,
Murray

I don't think **** them to the back of the speaker is a good idea. The specs says they weigh 20 pounds. The big unknown is how thick and what kind of material the rear panel is. If too thin, they could end up pulling out or the back coming loose from the rest of the speaker enclosure. Plus, you end up with holes in the speaker that needs to be plugged if you ever unmount the them and use 'em different.
I'd put them on a little homemade shelf. If you are worried about them sliding or vibrating off, a little bit of velcro ought to prevent that.
