This classic game was brought up in another thread so i thought I'd create this one. I'm sure the movie folks don't want to read 20 posts from geeks reliving their N64 addiction from the 90's.

Did anyone else spend as many hours as I did playing this game? I know AndyGwis, zombie boy 2000 and avelanchefan probably did.

On a side note, did anyone ever play Goldeneye Source? It was a Half Life 2 mod that recreated the N64 game. It hasn't been updated in a long time, but I get nostalgic looking at things like this:

That's the Facility I remember!!! Jesus... you just sent my head spinning. And the freakin' PP7!?! Weapon of choice, amigo. Does anyone remember running to the upstairs spawn point to cap somebody on the toilet. Like I said... one shot kill or bust. That's all we played.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I was never much of a video game person, but I still spent many hours playing Goldeneye, both the deathmatch multplayer stuff and the single player actual game. FOr some reason the one "scene" that sticks with me most is the single player game, in the monument area, where you had to talk to the Russian guy in some random container. It was such a maze in there, and ALSO I remember being pissed cuz one time I accidentally shot the guy in the face and lost.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Man I loved that game. I would try to find an old N64 just for that game. I wish that I could find it as an emulator or something. Goldeneye is greatness!

Loved that game, both single person and multi-player. I highschool, we'd all crash at friend's house that had cool parents so we wouldn't have to go home drunk and get in trouble. We'd play Bond all night. Person(s) with least kills had to give the controller up.

Proximity mines were a ****, but fun. Some jerk would always put them on the proximity mine box. Irony knows so limit in 007-ville.

Single player was cool, too. Game wasn't that hard to beat, but getting all the cheats for beating levels quickly, etc. was always challenging and fun.

I still have Goldeneye and an N64, as do a couple of my buddies. We'll pull it out from time to time. Still a lot of fun.

My other game addiction was Counterstrike, the old maps like Aztec, Dust, Dust II, etc. Great times killing others online and talking smack.

What we loved so much about one-shot kills were the Mexican stand-offs around corners that could last forever. Just waiting for that stray pixel to peek out so that you could snipe it was pure heaven.
In fact, we never played anything other than one-shot kill. High tension.

We also went "Golden Gun" or whatever for our multiplater deathmatch.

It was great, especially for rockets and grenade launchers. You were constantly blowing yourself up, trying to escape bank-shot nades, etc. It was also fun when two people would both be circling in the same direction shooting at eachother. Both could empty clips shooting behind the other circling player and then the slap kills would come into play.

Not to keep harping on the subject, but nothing was more demoralizing that a one-shot kill **** slap. More often than not, that tended to happen at spawn points and thus created more than its fair share of "real life" **** slaps.

Yeah, we had friends that knew exactly where you would respawn once you were killed. Made it pretty tough to win when you were constantly getting shot before or just as you picked up a gun.

We used to stack proximity mines at the spawn points so if you died once, you died 4 or 5 times. All you'd see was fire in one of the screens and hear the screams of frustration. It was doubly bad if YOU died and got killed with your own mines.

We eventually unlocked all the cheats, characters and levels which led to some interesting death matches. The full Aztec level was gigantic.

Okay, that got me laughing out loud. It reminded me of this one guy that was just horrible to the point where we would just do the one shot kill and just continually try to slap him to death.

And for an added insult, one of the spawn points in the Facility was in the bathroom. Remember having to climb through the duct work to drop into a stall? Yeah... getting one-shot **** slapped while on the comode was the ultimate indignity.

The bathroom spawn at facility was the worst. It took a few seconds to get out of the ceiling vent to begin with (which could be tricky if you were rushing), then longer to get out of the stall and grab a gun. Everytime someone saw that blue-grey venting around your screen, they'd run in there and shoot you before you had a chance to get a gun.
