The HT is coming to completion and I have been piecing together my components over the last few months.

Font RTI8
Center RTIa6
Onkyo 876 driving it

Now for the surrounds.

My room is 11' wide by 21' long. The front screen is on the 11' wide side. The rear of the room has a centered 5' wide entrance way with small 3 foot wall on each side. The rear surrounds will be mounted on these 3 wide small walls in the rear.

I was planning on using fxi a4 for all surrounds, but will this just be a waste for the rears? I actually have a pair of RTi4s I am using upstairs for my fronts in the living room.

So fxi all around? Fxi on the side with RTI 4 on the rear?

There hasn't been any fxi 4 on the polk ebay in a few weeks. I hate to pay $450 for new. I have seen fxi a6 on the polk ebay going for 395.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

thanks!!

i would think it depends what your budget is and what you feel you need. Do you need 7.1? Could you take the RTI 4s from the living room and still be happy?

If it were me, i'd start by moving the RTI 4s to the rear and just seeing what you thought about a 5.1 first. If you needed more, then i'd either invest in another set of RTi 4s to complete the setup with all matching in the rear ($200 or so on the bay - but not from PD), or put them on the sides and if you're wanting them, put in FXi6 in the rear (~$400 from PD including shipping and tax). Obviously, i wouldn't pay $450 for a new pair of FXi4s when you can get the 6s cheaper refurbished. If you're patient enough, just wait to see if PD gets some more FXi4s in.

That's just initial thoughts - i'm sure somebody will also provide a better idea for you.
Not my setup - but what I have put together for a friend (i.e. what mine would be if i had the money to invest :D )
