Aside form the obvious outdoor application....what area are you thinking of covering? Deck, carport, blah blah?CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Perfect. I really like the array and while it doesn't cover a large area sufficiently, small areas are spot-on.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

The Atrium 65SDI speakers are very good quality. They sound terrific.
I have a pair for my back deck providing coverage for my deck and pool area. I am completely satifsfied with them. My pool area is somewhat large and I have no coverage difficulty whatsover.
A few things to note, they're a little on the large size, and they are a little harder to drive than my indoor Polk RTi lineup. I am not sure why. It could be because they're sealed for weather proofing. It could be because of the lenth of the runs. It could be due to the outdoor volume control hardware I installed - or maybe all of these factors. But the bottom line is my Onkyo 602 couldn't properly drive them. Later I moved up to the Denon 1907 and that did a much better job providing power (85wpc). Recently I moved up to an external seperate amplifier (= or > 125wpc) and that is working/sounding even better.
On the model itself, the 65SDI has two tweeters in each that can be seperately wired so you can have a stereo sound in a single speaker. That has really only a narrow application. So if you don't need it then go for the Atrium 60s. They're cheaper and will sound pretty similar.
Overall the larger mid range of this speaker will give you much better lows than the smaller Atrium 45s or 50s. All the Atriums are good IMO, but I do think the 60s and 65SDIs sound much better mostly due to bass performance.
Good luck - back yard speakers add a lot of enjoyment. -
I'm thinking of using these for two purpose:
o in a 40'X50' closed room for the purpose of Karaoke.
o Out door during camping in a Amphitheater setting
I'm planning to power it w/ 150WPC. Wud these speakers be nice speakers for these purpose?

vijayl, I think the speakers would be nice, but I would say you will probably need more than two speakers. Four would probably do it. 40'x50' is a really large area. My pool area is about that size and I think I have decent coverage with only one pair but the difference is the pool is the focal point, not the music (at least for everyone other than me). For me music is just a little atmosphere, I don't run it very loud and I don't need complete complete even coverge. It sounds like your sound will be a focal point (karaoke, etc) so you're going to want a really even sound field, and you don't want to have to struggle to get the volume to where it needs to be. I'd suggest buying two pairs of Atrium 60s. The 65SDIs are sweet, but you only need the extra dual/single mode feature for some narrow applications... the 60s are just as good.
